Off topic a bit, but it's still regarding sink. House just finish reno, sink (topmount type) just installed undermount style on concrete countertop with tiles. However, got leaking problem, water will seep through the connection between sink and tile/concrete countertop. Called the wet works contractor, he came and just applied 1 layer of glue around the sink perimeter (connected to the tiles). But said problem will occur again one...how come like that? How to make sure that it won't leak again and again in the future? Anyone can help advice?
Hi , Topmount type sink is not suppose to install as undermount style because topmount sink normally come with water seal tape and clip to hold the sink with the table to prevent water seep in (but malaysia contractors are lazy normally they just put silicon to seal it and dun use those accessories provided and cause some seller also dun give these installation accessories).
For your case there are few reason to cause this either the sink is not flat or the table surface not flat enough ( this is normal bcos u r using top mount sink for under mount )
WAY to fix it
1. change the sink ( dun think is a good way bcos u need to hack everything )
2. Apply silicon bottom and above -double protection ( doesn't look nice but can save ur hassle , the contractor said is right .. it got a chance to leak again but if the silicon putting in good way , it can tahan for many years )
Just my 2 cent ~ hope it can help
