Hi there.
I am hoping some Hong Leong staffs will come across this post and provide me some answers.
I am going to work for Hong Leong (at one of the branches in KL) as a Operations Executive in May 2011.
I would like to know how is the work load and the working environment.
And is it stressful?
And what are the benefits for Hong Leong staffs in terms of bonus / increment etc?
(I am confirmed for the job verbally but I have yet to see the HR to discuss about the benefits / packages etc)

I m also a new staff and will start working tomolo... Do you know the working hours for the staff?

Office hour should be 8.45 am - 5.45pm on Monday - Thursday and 8.45 - 4.45pm on Friday.

Officer or clerk?

i'm one of the staff in hlbb - working in the branch as well , already passed 1 year been with hlb . agreed on office hour 8.45 am - 5.45pm on Monday - Thursday and 8.45 - 4.45pm on Friday but as u working in branch , do aware that u'll not be handling frontline job , u will be handling some other task as well . U need to be in the branch before 8.30 am .

Officer or clerical position ? I believed u been offered as executive right as HLB do not take any clerical position.

And is it stressful?
Not really if u were able to handle the capacity of job efficiently.

And what are the benefits for Hong Leong staffs in terms of bonus / increment etc?

I would say bonus ( usually bank 2 months bonus) and increment would be based on your kpi and branch kpi as well ( I started working at hlb since march 2010 and managed to get pro-rated bonus for 3 months as business year ended on june, no increment tho as still under probation for 6 months ) . AL for 22 days and it remain until last day u'll be working with hlb except for clerical as it been covered by NUBE and please take note that no so many panel clinic offered for HLB .

Very well said fezanim, I was with hlb previously for 3 years.
What I can say increment wise is not that good. Roughly around 5-6% previously. But what I have heard recently they had revised the raise.

Basic salary of entry level is kinda low compared to same field.
I hope they take you as a permanent staff and not contract because it's just a wasting of time for contract.

just wondering if it's stressful because the HR lady told me that it is "challenging" and i may be required to stay late

Hi,

Good to know that u're permanent there. I was in credit card processing unit previously. Different department diff workload I can say.
As for my unit it's kinda stressful where have to meet the dateline and volumes especially on month end.

Yeah, working in the bank requires you to stay late. Need to get used to it oh

Bonus wise, you will be entitled for 2 months contractual bonus, may higher if you performed well.

like what he said. dont expect to go back on time, depending on the task you assigned to. Since you are beginner, you can expect painful moment before you familiar with the work

@fezanim- which brand are you in?

My friend used to be in the Property Management company under Hong Leong and he was based at Wisma Hong Leong. Workload wise, he said very realistic. He goes back on time everyday and finishes his stuffs on time. He even gets to run around the property around the Wisma to assist the operational team there.

Whatever in hq totally different situation if directly compare with the branch , I really wish that I do not have to face or anything dealing with customer . I've been with CS for the past 3 years incld in call centre .

i just apply in jobstreet but was posted by recruitment agency instead directly from the bank...
the agency name is Times Consultant or something in Mid Valley

this is my 3rd week working at branch as operation and customer service exec, still learning period, many things to learn
overall workload wasn't too bad, still manageable, but that's maybe i am still new
i do noticed the officers stay back till about 7++ - 8pm

Yes, I know. Look at their FD interest rate and you'll know.

that's just because banking is not their core business
try look into the group and see what kind of businesses that they do...
banking is only a very small portion of the group

working at anywhere also got stress

suggest you apply HLB Bayan Baru Penang. Friend are there working great and enjoyable because lenient sohai boss accept employee come late at 3:00 or even no attendance.
