I am new to this Paypal and Debit card


Now I have basic savings account at Public Bank
Can i request for a Debit card from them?

And
Which Debit Card should i request so that i can link it with paypal?

Last time it wasn't possible to get the Day2Day VISA debit card to the Basic Savings/Curent account. Not sure if things have changed though.

Yes. You can. If i'm not mistaken, conversion from the old ATM card to PBB D2D VISA is free of charge now. And yes, you can add this card into your Paypal.

Applying Debit Card Visa Electron is just like openning a saving account.
Public Bank Day2Day card can be full function of PB ATM Card.
Like Maybank, most of the user with Maybank ATM card holder can convert to Debit Card(have a red apple). All of them function like ATM card with a Debit card facilities.
Public Bank, you can have Public Bank Day2Day Card and Visa Electron simultaneouly if you won't be trouble with so many accounts and passwords!

Yes. Simple as that. And bring your IC too. Can't remember if you need to bring your savings passbook too. It's been a while since i changed to PBB D2D VISA debit card.

i'm still new in paypal. How to pay the online shopping via paypal. When i click paypal, i must entered the debit card information.. Do i need to do it? cause in my paypal account have money.

I'm holding PB D2D Debit card but still can't link to my Paypal to get verified. Anyone can help on this?

If I am not mistaken, the billing address and name have to be the same to get it verified. Have you considered this?

also i saw in the T&C that the card charges RM12 for replacement then an annual fee of RM8

Only your PB ATM Card (blue color) is linked directly to your savings account at PBB and it is the only card can be used to withdraw money inside your account. Your debit MasterCard is a standalone card. You can set up an auto transfer from your PBB savings account to your debit MasterCard but you can't use this debit MasterCard to withdraw money from your PBB savings account.

As the debit MasterCard is a standalone card and is not actually linked to your PBB savings account, you can still change to the PBB Day2Day VISA debit card.


You do not have to pay any fee for card conversion. They used to charge RM12 but not anymore.


Savings passbook has no annual fee. You only have to pay RM8/pa for your ATM or Day2Day VISA debit card (whichever card you're holding).


It is separated. Retail purchase limit for PBB D2D VISA debit card is defaulted at RM2,000/day. You may set it to RM0 if you do not intend to use this feature or to RM10,000/day if you're a big spender and rely heavily on debit card. As for daily ATM cash withdrawal limit, it is defaulted at RM5,000 per day. You may set the limit to a lower amount but not more than RM5k/day.

By the way, you will need to pay RM12 to convert your yellow Maybank ATM card to the new Cherry VISA debit card. For PBB blue ATM card to the PBB D2D VISA debit card, it is free of charge.

a lot of you mention about how we can withdraw paypal funds into a pbb visa electron debit card~ but i was just wondering, can i also do the same with a pbb mastercard debit card? i've tried looking it up online, seemingly many accounts that mastercard isnt supported.

thing is, i'm thinking of getting a debit card; and i have ing insurance. pbb offers an ing mastercard debit card with of course some benefits for people using ing. so, i'm just curious if i could actually use this card to withdraw funds from paypal as well.

You may only withdraw your money in Paypal directly to your bank account in Malaysia or any VISA card.

Since June or July 2009. Approximately one month after Public Bank came out with their Day2Day VISA debit card. Anyway, yours wasn't successful because you probably missed out on something because everyone else didn't face any problem.

There is one thing i would like to remind using paypal ~~ I have been using once buy tgv cinema ticket ~~ and it somehow deduct RM1 more than the value u bought ~~ which is on hold and until now i still havent get back that RM1 from paypal~~ Recently i just change my mailing address in paypal and deduct RM1 more ~~ i also dun know what happen ~~ ><" Now my HLB debit card have RM2 less on available money compare to my ledger ~~

yea does it because of transfering fee
when i try to add fund by online transaction it actually direct me to meps page and deduct rm 2 per transaction from maybank

actually there is no any transfering fee needed ~~ i call their service centre and they said they will return us after 24hour as that is "on hold" money ~~ They say should be deduct USD1 and not RM1 ~~ but when i check my HLB online statement, it show RM1 ~~ I even receive call from HLB bank that paypal "take" my RM1 ~~ ><" i dunno why u deduct Rm2 pula ~~ ><"

You need to register at paypal and all your details( including your debit card details) will be registered in your paypal a/c. When you shop online and diverted to paypal you just have to login to paypal and follow the instruction on screen to make payment. all confirmation will be sent to your email so you can monitor.

Just for info, I have a RHB MasterCard Debit Card linked to my Saving Account and it is very easy to transfer money to Pay Pal. No fee to deposit fund into pay pal but I got charged RM3 when I transfer fund from pay pal to the savings account and it took about 3 days for the funds to be shown in the savings account.

recently i hav problem making pymt for my transaction using paypal, using the same debit card, i hav done a couple of successful pymnt before thru paypal. the pymnt beneficiary also the same, up to recently im getting this msg;

"We were unable to verify your credit or debit card. To proceed with your purchase, please select a different payment method or add a different credit or debit card, then click Continue."

My paypal is verified wit the very same cards, i hav alredy done a couple successful paymnt transaction thru this paypal acc.

i hav send email to paypal regarding this, they said it the card bank issue problem, so i havd contact my card service centre, they said its paypal problem for not including the 3 digit scs no. , and saying my card is fine.. again i hav contact paypal, still same answer to check wit my bank

erm, may i ask is that how is it i know my debit card details? I kinda forgot about the exact details. As u see, paypal if not mistaken would like the exact information as given to apply for the debit card.

so as a PBB user, my card is a day2day debit card.

so do i have to register over a publicbank PB2Bank registration to enable me to know my card details?

Public Bank offers a whole range of Visa and MasterCard debit cards. You can just check out the requirements or visit their website for online registration. As for the linking of your debit card with your PayPal account, there is a verification process that you need to go through. Check out the process for the linking at Paypal website.

Can anyone tell me which debit card have prepaid card features like "topping up" or "reloading". I need the feature to set a limit and prevent money from taken out virtually(online/internet) or physically(stolen). Because I have saw some news about paypal taking your money from your account and then return it back.
Need to find a way to set my debit card (PB day2day Debit card) like the prepaid card, because I feel that the card linking to your saving/current account is unsafe. Please and thank you!

You can pay online through Paypal without logging in. In other words, you don't need a Paypal account to pay money through Paypal.

Even if you log in, your Paypal account doesn't need to be verified. That means you can buy via Paypal without having your Paypal account to be linked with your debit/credit card.

"The Card Verification System used by PayPal is currently unavailable. Please try to add your card at a later time. We apologize for this inconvenience"

maybank by default disables paypal for security reason , call them to activate

i linked my paypal acc with my rhb debit card.
earlier this year, bought something from lazada using paypal acc.
now lazada refund back thru paypal also.
i open my paypal acc it says it successfully refund the amount my debit card back (stated as credit card in the transaction details).
but i checked my rhb acc still no money receive.

did it take some times for the money to be transfer back to my rhb acc?

Hi guys, I'm recently facing problem with my maybank debit card (the one with the cherry on it) and I used to make TONS of purchases with this card for afew years now, but recently, all of the sudden, I can't make any purchases with this card. It says that the bank declined it or something. IDK what happened to it, but I called maybank and told them to activate the international online banking thingy, but it still doesnt work.

I've tried countless times on Steam particularly, because i've been trying to buy games, but all I can't be doing it anymore which is pretty frustrating.

Anyone out there facing the same problem or has a solution for this? A reply would be very much appreciated !

Maybank Debit Card blocked most of the online transaction. Apply for other bank instead if you wanna use online. I kept my Maybank but applied for CIMB KWIK online to use for online transaction when I want to only.

some of the transactions are limited because a lot of frauds. anyway, you can actually call them to allow you to use on a certain transaction for a period which will need to be specified.

Maybank is no more PayPal compatible by the way.

Hi! I am new here. I would like to open a PayPal account.
I have look browse through Lowyat forum and I know that.
Firstly a debit or credit card is required in order to register to
PayPal. But I prefer to use debit card.

In 2007 0r 2009, I can't remember the dates. In order to get a
cheaper rates withdrawal. Any bank that is supported by PayPal
the setting can be edit from using debit card change to directly link
from a bank account.

But in 2014, I saw a thread in Lowyat forum now they limit the
options of certain bank accounts that can directlylink to PayPal.
So now, some banks only use debit card to top up PayPal but cannot
link directly from bank accounts and some certain banks can use a
direct link from bank accounts to PayPal.

One of the banks mention is RHB and they didn't tell about the specific
name of the other banks. I would like that feature which is the bank
account is link directly to PayPal. But that was 4 years ago.
I'm not sure the options settings is still the same or have changed.

So now the question is can you give me a list on what certain bank
can link bank accounts directly to PayPal as well as the highest successful
withdrawal rates and quality friendly top notched service?
