i also use it before when using CM7 nightlies. that was long time ago already..

but i donno got other alternative method using that Free Lighter App and Task Killer. might try it. just for experimenting purpose.

how heavy you mean..? playing games..? i suggest you try Revolution HD first. overall performance and battery life is awesome (if you flash recommended radio + kernel also).

both actually same kernel. the difference with 1.3.8.2 OC+, you can overclock you phone to 1.6Ghz which is our standard CPU is 1Ghz.. basically OC meaning increase your phone's performance.. err, correct me if i'm wrong.

EDIT:
kernel included with ROM that you want to flash. for ARHD 3.2, it comes with BUZZ kernel 1.3.8.2 OC/UV (1.2Ghz)..

err, like this. you just flash ARHD 3.2 + recommended radio only.. no need to flash other kernel.. 1.2Ghz kernel included already good.

have you installed HTC Sync on your PC..? how about uninstall and re-install back..

try download HTC Sync from HTC Sea website.. in support page.
