AFAIK s-off to flash stuff is only needed starting DHD and DZ, of which both have achieved s-off already.

The IS is different in the sense that it has a signed bootloader and recovery image, which involves more work to crack.

ic... there's no way to control the ambient light sensor rite? i mean tru the app or setting?

loud speaker in the car is ok for me.... but once outside with noisy environment.... it cud b a bit difficult

as i know off they said when you update your desire HD and Z to the latest firmware it will lock the bootloader too...

When you're interested in things with regards to the bootloader, you won't really be interested in running a shipped ROM, right? With that the chances of re-locking your bootloader via an OTA is nil. Not to mention the number of custom Sense Roms out there, if you're interested in that kind of thing.

To bring things back to the topic, as confirmed, root s-off has been achieved via a hardware kit (via something called an XTC Clip). A chinese forummer YuHong uploaded his pre-rooted IS ROM to flash. A shop in China is selling pre-rooted Incredible S-es.

Nope, unless there is a firmware that fixes that (if it is really a problem). Right now you can disable automatic brightness and set a comfortable brightness level manually.

Just tried asphalt 6 HD on the phone. No lag, really smooth and nice graphics! harder to play then NFS but way more funnnnnn!

there are a certain batch from india which comes with s-off off the box
mine's SiS set, it's an s-on set unfortunately

they've already rooted those 'unlucky' ISes which shipped with s-off
