Plaza Premium Lounge is getting crowded sometimes and frankly the food sucks.

In my experience the Platinum American Express charge card lounge access is very regional. My US based card won't let me into the mid-east or european lounges. I don't have a Malaysian based Platinum charge card so couldn't try but the notices specifically stated the regional cards.

Diner's Club has some amazing lounge accesses though, particularly in Europe.

Between this and the Amex credit cards I think the Amex is still better for collecting Enrich miles. At 5x membership rewards for normal grocery/fuel transactions and 5.6 membership rewards per Enrich mile that's almost 1 to 1. For non grocery/fuel transactions it's 2x membership rewards which is the same as MBB VI but MR > TP for miles...

I'm eyeing the 50% sale too, 60k miles to LAX biz class! Last I used it was in 2010 and got biz class to CDG which was fun

Your point on Amex gold credit card is definitely true. I'm seriously thinking of switching since I hardly ever use the Shangri La benefits and I can get into the Premium lounges using other cards. But I didn't know MBB VI TP conversion was lower than Amex MR, that's a decent benefit.

I've done the calculations before, converting to Enrich is also only worth it for business class tickets when you're using up the 50% discount which is usually at the end of the year. Otherwise with the airport tax it ends up to be more than MHbasic.
