I think the Amex Platinum charge card from Malaysia only allows unlimited lounge entry at KLIA and some other lounges within Malaysia or neighboring countries and not worldwide. Cos you don't get a separate Priority Pass membership card. This Priority Pass card is what allows you worldwide access to their lounges. I think Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia has a Visa Infinite credit card that comes with a Priority Pass membership card that allows you worldwide access to their lounges.

Also, the Platinum charge card has one of the highest annual fees and it is difficult to get them to waive it, most they can do is allow points redemption against the annual fee.

American Express Platinum charge card and platinum supplementary card get unlimited free access to Plaza Premium lounge in KLIA but not sure about LCCT.

The Amex Plat charge card fee is high but the credit card fee is not so high, isn't it?

I thought the best credit card for free lounge access is Standard Chartered Visa Infinite card? This is the only card in Malaysia that comes with free Priority Pass Card. The Priority Pass Card allows unlimited free access to all priority pass lounges worldwide, not just in Asia Pacific. As many times each month/year as you want and you are not limited to just Plaza Premium Lounge in KLIA or Changi or wherever.

EON bank Visa Signature or UOB card don't have this, isn't it?

Is it confirmed EON bank Visa Signature no longer provides free access to KLIA plaza premium lounge from 1st August onwards? Something to do with the takeover by Hong Leong bank? Also affects other EON bank cards like the GSC card?

Was told by an EON bank visa signature card holder. Apparently EON bank customers and staff were not told in advance. Can any EON bank visa signature card holders confirm this at KLIA?

Malaysia's Amex Platinum card does offer international aiport lounge access outside of MAlaysia but can't remember the entire list. However, I think Maybank should bring the Malaysian Amex Platinum card up to the same level as other countries Amex Platinum card.

For example, if you have the UK Amex Platinum card, you are automatically given a Priority Pass Card for you as well as your supplementary cardholders which means your supplementary cardholder can access airport lounges worldwide on their own. On top of that, the UK Amex Platinum card's Priority Pass card allows you to bring in one guest free of charge! So you can bring in one guest, your supplementary cardholder can also bring in one guest to any of the Priority Pass lounges worldwide. Way better than Maybank's Amex Platinum Card or StanChart's Priority Pass or Alliance Banks Priority Pass cards!

Actually you don't always have to pay annual fee for Amex Platinum charge card. Although it is not mentioned, they do waive annual fee for certain cardholders and offer special/reduced points redemption towards the annual fee also. So effectively you do get it free just by using it.

SCB VI is still given free to all Priority customers regardless of annual spend.

Amex Platinum card is not prestigious, the Centurion card is. Now that is one special card, made of metal, not plastic! They were going to launch it in Malaysia but now seem to be delayed.

RM50K spending a year is not even enough to qualify for the reduced points redemption for the annual fee.

Those who have Maybank Private Wealth Management investments exceeding 7 figures will have their annual fee waived and be invited for expression of interest in the Centurion Card.

Unfortunately, I am not in such a priviledged position and can only look in wonder at those that are....

Actually, there are a lot of people with cash deposits of more than one million in Malaysia. Once when I was at a bank, the person ahead of me was discussing something and his current account balance was more than one million! Banker tried to get him to invest in something but he kept declining saying he prefers to keep it in current account even though interest was minimal!

So maybe not everyone with 7 figure sums would fly business or first class anyway? Especially when the ticket costs at least 3 or 4 times more than economy class?? Even with the one for one offer in business or first!

I remember reading an article that said ringgit millionaires very common and even US dollar millionaires in Malaysia is common. Certainly in my line of work I come across so many ringgit millionaires every day. I think we all wish we could be like them!

So yes, for ordinary people like us the Alliance Bank VI is good. Do you have to be a Premier/Priority customer or can you just apply for the VI?

Can someone update the first page info to include HSBC Premier World Mastercard now allows access to Plaza Premium Lounge at KLIA? Not the Mastercard lounge but PPL itself. i think got photo of the newly renovated PPL also on the HSBC website.

Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Priority Pass is now only 2 times a year. Lousy card from a lousy bank

You can apply for the Amex Platinum charge card, just like any other cards as it is not by invitation. The one that is by invitation only is the American Express Centurion charge card (black colour), one of the most exclusive cards out there.

There is no mixup. Maybank was preparing to launch the Centurion with ads in the papers and inviting existing Platinum charge card holders to "express their interest".

Sure, go through the old copies of The Edge and you will find it.

Invitations to express your interest were sent out individually so not possible to show you the letter due to personal details.
