some review showed that the SP is rather short. the highlight is the MP, is a BFBC:COD style with ai General.

Playing it now. Look out for a couple mentions of Malaysia in the news clippings scattered around the early levels. First one can be found near the outside perimeter of the school.

Read the PCPP review, they said if you want the MP, get it. The SP is forgettable, but the MP is quite well made.

Sooooo many negative review bout this game, both SP and MP.
Graphic is old, the camera angles, weapons in this game are quite bland, similar accuracy, similar firepower, no bullet penetration, your companion run on exploding grenade and dun even fell down.. the list goes on. No sure how many of them is true, but 4 hours SP and MP equal to COD clone... I get it when it is priced below USD10 |

QUOTE(frags @ Mar 16 2011, 03:57 PM) That is not always the case. If there is stock specific for this region we can get below US pricing. Like EA games. something i like about EA, they tend to keep their pricing at $43 for Asia regions even with digital downloads. Activision on the other hand... grrr.might be getting this for x360 since pc version is attached to steam |

Don't buy this game for full price. Its not worth it. Even MP also is cheap rip off of COD. At least Crysis 2 rip off plays much better. Buy this only at sales time.

Snipers are unbelievably annoying in MP, since it's like COD, on a bigger map. MP really feels like BFBC2. But animation is stiffer. Also, no bullet penetration, I think.
In SP, kinda ok. I thought the beginning of the game felt like Freedom Fighter and HalfLife2, except Freedom Fighter does it better, I think. Oh ya. AI for your squadmates can be unbelievably stupid. Won't even yell if there's a nade, no suppressive fire, won't cover your butt if an enemy's shooting up your back. And relies on the player to do most of the killing. Enemy AI is kinda disappointing also. It felt a lot like shooting zombies instead of going up against the military. No squad tactics. This post has been edited by SweetPuff: Mar 17 2011, 11:19 PM |

QUOTE(TiF @ Mar 17 2011, 11:34 PM) Maybe there's a reason for not releasing a demo But yeah, I feel underwhelmed when playing this game. Don't get why some reviews say that the SP is intense and gripping though. There are some minor neat moments, but it's nothing close to what you get from MW2 or even Black Ops. Plus one of the major character just keeps spewing foul language that it just makes him annoying and juvenile. Tip of the day for SP: Whenever your teammates tells you to do X and they'll cover you, they're lying. This post has been edited by SweetPuff: Mar 18 2011, 12:30 AM |

The netcode seems to be better than most games I played though. Server ping could be 250, but once I joined the game it goes around 60. Don't feel much lag.
SP finished in Hard Mode liao in my 2nd sitting. Still feel it's very standard fare. Only memorable chapters are the 3rd and the end of the 7th. But the story can't match the promising premise. I'm really surprised the animation is so amateurish, especially when tossing the nade and knife kills. The sounds for the guns are above average, but don't have the feel of recoil/kick. So sometimes feel like it's a water gun. Could benefit with more gun selection. And no other option for pistols??? Bleh. No bullet penetration means aiming have to be precise. Very precise against camping snipers. This post has been edited by SweetPuff: Mar 19 2011, 01:21 PM |

I'm hearing really good things about the multiplayer, but most definitely the userbase will drop after 2 months. I heard it's more fast-paced and action-packed than Bad Company 2.
Too bad the Tank vehicle can go over a fence or broken cars lol. |

LMGs and SMGs are pretty useless in MP, imho.
There are some invisible hitbox issues when it comes to environment. So, sometimes it seems like you have a clear shot at that enemy, but actually he's behind cover. And since there's no bullet penetration here, snipers can literally sniper in between the wooden fence from the other end of the map and there's no way you can shoot back beyond the draw distance. Which reminds me. I need to set the draw distance higher |

I think Homefront's MP is kinda pretty decent. I'm very happy with it, especially with the ping management.
Basically I got the game for the story but I stayed for the MP. |

How many players willing to be active and possibly donate? Haha. |

I got a question bout the SP.
Why the enemies don't drop weapons when I kill them? I'm running out of ammo because there's no ammo packs or weapon drops from enemies for some magical reason. |

it already out
The latest patch is now available on Steam and will be downloaded the next time you start Homefront. FEATURES Ban list rework · We now store two separate ban lists on servers; a local ban list, and a global ban list. The local ban list is for bans that originate on the server (via kickbans, etc). The global ban list is for bans that are initiated by a trusted ban list authority. The ban lists store the date of ban, the name of the admin who initiated the ban, the reason for the ban, and a URL field for any relevant ban evidence (demos etc). New Feature – DEMO URL · A DemoURL can now be specified in the server playlist, this is used to indicate the location of stored demo files to user’s in-game (see the multiplayer options screen). A good practice for server admins would be to share the demo folder via FTP, this would allow users to grab demos of games they starred in, and also (very importantly!) allow users and anti-cheat authorities to download evidence for cheat reporting. Incidentally, it is now possible to dump all users unique steamID's from both in-game, and in-demos to the console or text file (this will make reporting abusive players and enforcing bans incredibly easy). GAME BALANCE · RPG's now deal additional damage to HMMWV's. · Lowered m200 and m110 sniper rifle damages. The only 1 shot possible is now headshots. · Flak jacket now has a lower BP cost, and a slight effectiveness buff. · Diablo damage adjusted. · Weapon is taken out of ADS and accuracy decreases when jumping. OPTIMIZATIONS & FIXES · The Rhino drones weapon attachment was not being properly moved with the Rhino drone on dedicated servers, causing the rockets to fire incorrectly. This is now fixed. · We have added some animation optimizations for large player games. · Several UI related improvements were added for large player games. · Fixed scaling text zooming on Battle Commander when opening up the battle chat or squad UI. · Switched the buttons around on the load out rename confirmation dialog to better abide by conventions. · Improved SLI/CrossFireX support. · A few reported issues with WinXP 64 bit edition have been addressed. · Improved menu navigation with analogue controls. GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS · User feedback for kicks and bans has been improved. · The intermission lobby now displays clan tags. · Text chat is now possible in the kill cam, spawn selection, and intermission lobby screens. NEW SETTINGS & CONTROL OPTIONS · EnableD3D10/11 is now accessible via the system settings menu. · Mouse acceleration is now accessible via the controls menu. · Mouse smoothing is now accessible via the controls menu. |

Homefront Is 'Profitable', THQ Expects Lifetime Sales of 3 Million
QUOTE Today, at the THQ investors call CEO Brian Farrell said that players can “safely assume that [Homefront] is profitable.” The publisher reiterated the break-even point of 2 million units for the title and future big-budget triple-A games from THQ. Farrell said that the game has “crossed the threshold” of profitability and currently has “extremely high” incremental operating margins. Source: Industry GamersOverall, THQ expects for the game to “trend well in excess of 3 million units” over its total lifetime. In contrast, EA's Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has sold 7 million units worldwide and Activision's Call of Duty: Black Ops has sold 13.7 million. THQ noted that the advertising on Homefront was “very, very strong” and contributed to the title's total sales. |

QUOTE(kianweic @ May 4 2011, 02:02 PM) since its an AAA title and its multiplatform, heck even its preorder on all 3 platform its more than 500k. I m quite surprise this game scored badly, since it MP portion is very good. In consumers eyes, a good MP> good SP.COD:blops 8 mil in 12 weeks COD:MW2 2 mil in 2 weeks |

QUOTE(H@H@ @ May 4 2011, 02:44 PM) He did say "lifetime" sales, which in console speak literally means "First 3 months" for the first 3 months, homefront is doing rather well as any other big FPS titles in the market. in addition, theres very light competition for fps in the market since blop last year. Except C2.Joking aside that is true though, console titles rarely sell after it's initial release and even then, it's mostly 2nd hand sales. i agree with that, most titles will not sell well after the release. thats the reason why THQ decided to release a demo for MP in the coming months. Ridiculously, THQ decided to slap a $10 for MP portion for any 2nd hand copy. Smart move Tips for good sales: 1. good marketing - a good release date 2. MP>SP 3. ??? 4. Profit |

THQ: Homefront Franchise Will Continue
QUOTE Despite closing down Homefront developer Kaos Studios this week, THQ has confirmed that the shooter will see a follow-up with some "really interesting announcements" in the future. Talking to news site Eurogamer, THQ core games head Danny Bilson noted that the franchise will be moving forward, with the company learning from the mistakes of the original. "Everything we learned from Homefront you'll see executed in other games going forward, and including that franchise going forward. We'll have some really interesting announcements in the future about the future of that brand," he explained. Regarding development of the first title, he said, "It was a tremendous learning experience for us. We learned a lot about managing dedicated servers. We got very ambitious with dedicated servers." "I put a lot of myself into that effort on that game. I learned a lot. I still think it's creatively a fantastic game, a great place to go. The environmental storytelling is excellent. The marketing was wonderful. That brand resonated with a lot of people emotionally." The future of Homefront series is now down to THQ's Montreal studio. Despite lower-than-expected review scores that seem tied to a temporary stock dip for THQ, the Kaos-developed Homefront sold an estimated million copies worldwide in its first 10 days on store shelves. THQ announce Homefront 'The Rock' map pack, Xbox Live first
QUOTE Future 'what-if' shooter Homefront is getting four multiplayer maps as THQ unveil The Rock map pack which will grace the Xbox Live Marketplace first. As the name suggests, fans get Alcatraz the infamous island prison located in San Francisco. Bridge is also a new map while two others are 'recycled'. Team deathmatch gets Waterway and Overpass added to their line-up while Alcatraz and Bridge are the all-new maps from the pack. It will release first for Xbox 360 although no date has yet been issued by publisher THQ. - Alcatraz America’s most infamous prison becomes the site of fierce close-quarters fighting. - Bridge A combined arms effort to secure the North Tower of the Golden Gate Bridge and surrounding area, large-scale warfare at its best! - Waterway Wage war atop storefronts and in the streets of the Spillway, where every inch feels like a mile. - Overpass Battle in a fan-favorite Ground Control space for the first time in Team Deathmatch! The Rock map pack will sell for 400 Microsoft Points when it goes up. There are no details when the DLC will be heading for the PlayStation 3 and PC. THQ: Closed Studios Not 'Consistent With Our Strategy'
QUOTE THQ has shut down a number of studios this year: Homefront developer Kaos Studios in June, two studios in Australia, and the internal MX vs. ATV developer located in Phoenix, Arizona. Speaking at the Citi 2011 Tech Conference today, THQ CFO Paul Pucino outlined why those studios had to go. THQ has decided to streamline its operations to create a few AAA releases each year, with successive iterations every two years. "In respect to not talking about it at our annual meeting it's because we simply weren't able to announce it at that time," Pucino said. "We think the best position we can be in with respect to studio structure is fewer is better." "The two we just shut in Australia were working on games that aren't consistent with our strategy anymore - one on a movie tie-in, one on a kids' game," Pucino said. "Our strategy now is bringing fewer, bigger triple-A titles to market: one or two original IPs each year, and sequelling them every two to two-and-a-half years." Pucino highlighted the new THQ Montreal studio, headed up by Ubisoft-expat and former Assassin’s Creed creative director Patrice Désilets. THQ believes the new studio will allow them to create AAA games cheaper and more efficiently. "We're trying to reduce the cost of bringing high quality games to market," Pucino said. "Our studio in Montreal will grow from 150 to 400 employees in the next couple of years. We're going to be able to make games there for 40 percent less than some of our other studios." Does THQ have a chance against Activision, EA, and Ubisoft? Homefront didn’t sell as well as it could, the publisher just killed the Red Faction franchise, and its collaboration with director Guillermo del Toro won’t see fruit for many years now. Is the publisher moving in the right direction? Source: Industry Gamers |

Homefront 2 To Be Developed By Crytek
QUOTE ![]() Having closed down Homefront developers, Kaos Studios, earlier this year, THQ have had to look elsewhere to create a sequel for the massively disappointing shooter. They seem to be going straight to the top. It has just been announced that the publishers are partnering with Crysis creators, Crytek, for the project. The company, currently rumoured to be working on Timesplitters 4, and certainly developing a 360 exclusive, Ryse, for Microsoft, is certainly diverging away from its previous EA-only development. And with multiple studios and presumably Crysis 3 a good way off, it makes sense for them to be picking up work like this. But Homefront? Perhaps. When the game was revealed it looked like it was going to be incredible, and certain heavily influenced by Crysis. Sadly the result was an extremely dull shooter that offered almost nothing original. But perhaps Crytek are the right people to breathe life into the idea of a band of resistance fighters in a Korean-occupied United States. Statements from both sides show no admittance that Homefront had been a disappointment. THQ says, “Homefront’s unique setting and storyline captivated gamers the world over. With Crytek’s industry leading technology and legendary experience in the FPS genre, we’re supremely confident that the next Homefront will deliver that AAA-quality experience that players demand.” And Crytek’s boss, Cevat Yerli, fawns, “We see Homefront as a really strong universe that has a lot of potential and that has been expertly created and marketed by THQ.” He does then offer a few lines that the more cynical mind could read as slightly loaded. “We believe that bringing our level of quality, creativity and production values to the next Homefront title, creates an opportunity for both THQ and Crytek to deliver a truly blockbuster game. It’s really important to us that THQ has the faith in giving us a lot of creative freedom over one of its most important properties to allow us to bring the Homefront world to life in a new and innovative way.” In other words, perhaps, “Leave us alone to get on with it.” It’s a long way off yet. Set to be released in THQ’s fiscal year 2014, that likely means it’ll have at least its initial release date set for late 2013. THQ schedule reveals Homefront Ultimate Edition
QUOTE A release schedule for publisher THQ has announced Homefront Ultimate Edition will be coming our way before the end of this fiscal year, which strikes out March 31st. This bundle likely includes multiplayer map pack add-ons The Rock and Fire Sale. It's unclear if anything else will be thrown in as a treat. Homefront got a so-so reception. While not trail blazing the charts, the original game has at least established the fledgling IP. A sequel is in the works at Crytek UK which is due for release in fiscal 2014. Original developer Kaos Studios became defunct not long after the shooter's release. In the game we play as part of the American resistance to a North Korean led invasion of the US. THQ have talked up big plans for the series including a possible trip to Britain. The story was co-authored by Apocalypse Now and Red Dawn's John Milius Source: Strategy Informer |

Crytek UK closed down, Deep Silver snaps up Homefront license
QUOTE In unsurprising news Crytek has finally confirmed that its UK studio is being shut down. The company also announced layoffs at its Austin studio, where in-development co-op shooter Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age is being moved over to Frankfurt. Additionally the Homefront franchise, which the studio was working on in the shape of Homefront: The Revolution, has been bought up by Deep Silver and transferred over to its new Dambuster Studio. It's really sad Crytek is falling. And worst of all Crytek USA (ex-vigil staff) that made Darksiders are laid off again. Homefront look promising. Hope DeepSilver can do it justice. But i seriously doubt it. Look at Sacred 3.

On the Brightside, Darksiders 3 can definitely happen now ! |

While it's safe but it's sad the team (ex-vigil staff) is yet laid off again. Hopefully Nordic games can fund the whole team? But i seriously doubt. On the Brightside, Darksiders 3 can definitely happen now ! http://www.pcgamesn.com/hunt-horrors-gilde...d-age-frankfurt |
