Seems that yoga classes are not that hard to find. The problem is usually about getting a good teacher.

I know of Yoga classes in Damansara Heights. For RM100/month, once a week. Classes are conducted in small groups in a 'ashram' (basically, in a home) and the instructor (Florence) has had over 30 years of experience teaching and writing about yoga. If you're not looking for commercialized, exercise driven yoga and want to concentrate on learning classical yoga postures/poses/chakras, this would be the right place.

Plus, you can target areas you want to improve (back, lower abdomen, etc) by talking to the instructor for the right postures.

Check it out: Ashtanga Yoga Center

If you need more info, call 0123915528 and ask for Florence. smile.gif

Maybe you guys should learn it from home first watching some video tutorial before going to the actual one. Helps a lot to cut down the fees. And you might want to do some research about yoga, there are many types and not all are suitable for all. I know one is in Puchong by an indian yogis Bandar Puteri, was told pretty good teaching. Anyways. you might want to learn from here first http://www.thelearnersheaven.com/category/health/

thanks learners, maybe i should take your advise to learn at home first. is there a different comparing the one that conduct class once per week and the one in gym ? im currently practicing my yoga in true fitness but just 1 month trial. the teachers there are quite okay to me and i can't tell the difference between the good one and bad one yet. i think there's no measurement maybe personal attention is lacking.
*
Try just going through the 1 month trial and see if other places are also giving out trials, talk to them if they didn't say so. The only way to know is to keep trying different guru, until you find one that can really help you to achieve what you want in YOga. There are different purposes for people to take up yoga, some for slimming, some for meditation, some just for fun. Those yoga at gym are generally more watered down technique, cannot be compared to those hardcore ones. I know someone who is also teaching in Bangsar who have quite good experience with Yoga, he's been a monk for about 2 years before he went into the yoga business. Just PM me if interested. Otherwise, just buy some dvds from here http://www.thelearnersheaven.com/category/health/yoga/ to learn as much as you can from home first.

You guys are re-opening an old thread sweat.gif
Anyway, if you are new to yoga, make sure you join beginner class. You'll have difficulty with the so-called multi-level class.

A good teacher must not force his pupils, he must bullwhip them so the students can do impossible poses biggrin.gif

I wan us to form a handstand club. We can go outdoors for a handstand marathon to promote yoga and our club

I am a man too. Get used to it already...

When I started, I was the only man in the class. All other students were ladies. But the teacher was a man. That made me feel better rolleyes.gif

Beginners' yoga classes are mostly about stretching. Men are generally not as flexible as women, so we have to put our ego aside.

But in intermediate/advanced classes, you will start to encounter 'macho' poses. By then you won't find yoga to be so girly anymore biggrin.gif
