i never once used sebastien and fenris except on companion quests

Fenris would be useful if you're playing an offensive mage with Chain Lightning. He staggers foes easily thus enabling you to deal more damage. Luckily I'm playing a warrior and as a result my party is Two handed weapon warrior Hawke which acts as the main damage dealer and the main crowd controller, Anders as the healer, Merrill as the secondary damage dealer and the chain lightning combo, Varric for traps, damage and opening chests.

being a MMO tard i tend to pick a tank, a healer and two dps. finish my first play-through as mage, being a healer with Aveline as tank, Merrill as Damage dealer and Isabela as the melee dps.

i just sit back and heal, the party kill High Dragon in like 2 minutes, LIKE A BOSS.

Varric can out damage Isabella easily

imma mage myself.. Force mage + spirit healer. aveline, varric, and the last companion can alternate. i was hoping to get a qunari companion. that would have been cool

Y when my companions is Merril she so weak?what build u do for her?

Make her a tank ignore willpower and go for Magic and constitution. Get her own unique tree maxed, the most important ability is the blood of the first which will then fully utilize her hp as blood magic. Also get the wrath of the elvhen and its upgrade which helps merrill heal more thus making her even tougher.

Get the staff called Voracity which can be obtained when you defeat the boss of the evil tome quest. Voracity helps with blood magic, also get those trinkets, which help with blood magic.

Also upgrade chain lightning, and rock armor for more damage and defense. Get Misdirection Hex and its upgrade which helps a lot when you're fighting bosses and of cos horror which is always useful. Get Crushing prison and its upgrade for more damage and to exploit the staggered situation of the enemies.

set the tactics to something like this

Self (Any) - Use Blood of the First
Self ( HP < 50%) - Deactivate Blood of the first
Self(Any) - Activate Rock Armor
Self(Any) - Activate Wrath of the Elvhen
Self(Any) - Activate elemental weapons
Enemy (Status - STAGGERED) - Use chain lightning

yup merill is more of a nuke mage. just give her enough constitution to help with blood magic

Well its always personal taste of which member you like to have in your party In DA2 I dont actually find healer is needed, as cool down for healing spells are quite long in my opinion, unless you go tweak the settings for it, which I dont prefer to. I find potions more useful most of the time. As for fragility, I would give my vote to isabela, as she tends to die easily on me. A back stab from enemy rogues can easily kill her with full hp. Even mages are tougher in the game with the skill rock armor.

Just start another warrior recently, playing as tank. Only found out that tank can do charge attack while shield defense is being deactivated. Kinda addicted to my frostmourne and shield

Its a pity I can't play as a dwarf. Would have loved to be a 2 handed axe bearing dwarf. And my axe.............!!!!

You can always play as any race, even the arishok. Just need be modding only. But I not really into modding companions

Is it just me or is the revenant easier than origins ?
I feel that I struggled more on revenants in origins than in da2

man those revenants for totally farked up for me in da1. Because i did the dalish mission first. So i was like level 6-7 fighting those revenants for the juggernaut armor set

Im playing mage and cos 1st play I already use nuke mage partner so now 2nd play I try something different. Also in hard mode but I feel it should be hard.

SOmehow my mage kinda suck. Is it mage not nuke will become suck liao? I choose the spirit skill and now level 8 but my mage always do nothing in combat. Just shoot shoot wif the staff.

Yeah i get what you mean. Your mage has the disabling kind of skills. Its weak in the beginning but once you level up the entropy skills and spirit skills it will become powerful. It will even be better then nuke mages later on. Nukes are basically useful for taking out hordes in the beginning but as you progress you can just let the rogues and warriors cut them down. So they lose their effectiveness but the disables are useful for higher level bosses and elites

That is 1 of reason I stop my mage at around lvl11 and start a tank, seems bit boring with not much action. For my mages I usually choose the lightning tree and some support skills. But honestly go play nightmare, more challenges as you wont able just throwing any nuke spell or go aoe everywhere as you like. Monsters also has better element immunity as well. Example qunari types will get no damage from fire and lightning.

yup its the 2nd act and im already bored with my mage. Its very different from DAO where playing as AW and BM combo was the most fun class
