I was using Maxis 3G and then I surfed this 'Maxis 3G Internet' website and it started to load fast, to about 180kb+ (data loaded). Then I stopped it before it loaded any further and check my balanced.

It ate RM3+ ???WTF doh.gif

RM3 = 300 sen = 300kb. Maybe got background sync ke apa? Or maybe the full site was already loaded, just the phone was taking it's sweet time rendering it?

I asked @MaxisListens few days ago whether they plan to reduce data rates. As of now they have no plans to do it, but may happen in the future. I propose we do something about it to push Maxis to offer more competitive data plans/charges. I believe if enough ppl bug them thru FB or twitter, surely something can be done? Or just publicly spam about the horrendous data charges.

Data charges must go down. SMS had. Data has to be next.

I'm not sure, but pretty sure everytime I use 3G it's bloody expensive.

Any idea where to subscribe for the RM18/month 100MB data plan?

Thanks but I don't see any RM18/month 100MB data plan...closest is RM18 for 2 weeks but same 100MB

On a side note, last time I remember I did use this service before when I travelled outstation. iirc I took the daily pass of RM8 but it totally didn't work at all. It deducted RM8 for the pass, then I started surfing some web then it deduct me again??!! Until my money all gone wtf.

Hey guys, is it possible to get a Maxis data plan which is unlimited to my existing number?
*
define unlimited?

There's a good RM18/month 100MB data plan for postpaid customers.

Maxis just launched their new Value Plus postpaid plan hmm.gif

I saw the RM30 supplementary plan seems interesting. Free 50mins,50sms,250MB data

Want to ask

1) Is the plan like we can sms/call up to RM30(like normal postpaid plans)? Or we pay RM30 for the plan and only get to use 50min,50sms only?

2) What is a supplementary line?

Ermm..RM 18/ MONTH 100MB is it enough for social apps?like facebook,whatsapp,line..no load or DL.
*
100MB is around 3.33MB/day.

I guess should be alright if you surf those mobile sites that don't take much bandwidth

I'm giving up on DiGi for Internet on my phone

Gonna try this new Mobile Internet Plan from Hotlink

10 day for RM10 and 75MB sounds about right for my usage

Just have to watch the quota as it's PAYU after that..
*
Still bloody expensive but at least better than the 100MB RM18 for 2 weeks.

Btw, what is this 'Quote Upgrade Passes'?

Nope. It's long time over.

That's why I might keep my Youth Club number and probably get another number for data (u mobile)

Yeahhhh it's cheap. But I think Digi's 100MB RM1/day plan is better lol.

Anyways, I'd still need to call/sms on my new SGS II when necessary. So for now, I'll just use back my Youth Plan and subscribe for the new internet plan and see how things go. If data tak cukup, I'll sign up for new U Mobile number and get the RM28/month postpaid with free 200sms. And use my 5800(Maxis Youth Plan) to make calls since the rates are cheaper. Liddat means need to bring 2 phones out lol

the new rate is also applicable for the postpaid monthly 100MB, 500MB etc as well when the quota is exceeded.
here is the source

http://www.maxis.com.my/personal/mobile/br...earch/index.asp

the pay as u use without a monthly data plan still the same cutthroat 10cent/10KB.
*
Afaik it doesn't apply to Value Plus Internet users right?

Btw guys, I'm thinking of getting the Value Plus Internet 50 hmm.gif Any happy users here? smile.gif

The problem is the phone will consume data by itself. I dont have anything else on, whatsapp only but within 4 days 5MB hilang. I tried using the RM3 for 5mb/week. Maxis really kedekut with bandwidth. Make it 10mb/week for RM3 and it will be awesome.

Other applications that are running in the background are the culprits.

If you're using android, try rooting your phone and install My data manager to monitor data activity and install LBE privacy guard to restrict data activity of apps.

VPI 50.. 250MB too little data.. Somemore I had to top up RM10 to add 50MB to last until 28th this month sweat.gif

Might jump to Value first (RM30/month) and add a RM38/month 500MB mobile internet. In total it'll be RMM68/month which I think is not too bad thought I'd prefer it to be around the RM5X range. Still a student, not willing to fork out too much $$ every month.

My usage is not much. Around 40 minutes of call, 100-120 sms. So, I think should be well within the RM30..

What do you guys think?
