I'm looking at 1215b as an option for a netbook. The AMD E-350 processor review is promising, and the reso on the 1215b being 1366 x 768 is the primary reason for me choosing it over the acer aspire one 522.

Planning to plonk in a intel X25M 80gb ssd, reading about the case opening is a bit worrying, as it's possible to break the case, but i think the extra speed from ssd is worth it.

Anyone has opened the case and put in an SSD yet?

Saw the acer zacate notebook. big screen battery small not good combination for battery life IMO. It was the primary reason for going smaller screen with without going less than 1366 x 768 res for me.

Anyway, called asus wholesaler, they say no 1215B brought in yet? I was asking a local shop to order one to Kelantan.

Did anyone see it being sold in PC fail Fair? If got, I guess I'll be heading down to buy.

1215B is using the same chassis as the other 1215 models. Thus far, I don't think anyone here did a swap yet, but I think I might do it when I get a 1215B myself.

missed this post. thanks, yeah, I round that review already.

Almost bought a acer timelineX, but for my needs I think too overkill, plus the biometric fingerprint is heard to be lousy, so killed that idea.

I'm also going to wait for the 1215B, add ram + ssd, and enjoy the biggest reso netbooks can offer. 1366x768. too bad no 10" netbooks has that res. Should be able to get more battery life out.

Too bad the acer travelmate timelineX i3 too pricey with win7 pro at 2.2K. else I'd buy already since it has a nice case, even if it has a retarded fingerprint reader. With 2.2K, can get 1215B with 4GB and SSD.. I already have win7 home premium retail from my older laptop.

Actually 4GB ram on netbook is not overkill. imagine 20+tabs browsing.. tongue.gif

I'm going for intel x25m G2. it's priced around rm500+ for the 80GB AFAIK. I haven't considered other brands, but if there are cheaper ones, I'd probably consider it, since I doubt the AMD system can use the extra speed the intel SSD offers. At Kelantan, there's ready stock for the intel SSDs only, so there's not much of a choice here.

I find that 80gb is enough for me, since I don't install extra software, just software for work, and loading occasional DVDrips for watching movies on the go. I think it's worth for the performance and (supposedly) better battery power consumption.

My old laptop 250GB never even used up 100GB lol.

And my old netbook, lol, the eeepc 701 had only 4GB SSD. It required a lot of winxp and office tweaking to get it to run with free space to spare. Still I managed to install basic browser plugins and media codecs+players to boot. ended up with 3.25GB worth.Moved data to SD, still using it now, but the keyboard is already wacky, that's why considering the 1215B now. Strangely, the battery on my old eeepc still quite lasting about 2-3 hours (it's the first model, i overclocked it too, see sig)

The 1215N has gotten better reviews for gaming, that would be an option for those wanting a gaming netbook. If for work purpose and surfing, I think the 1215B fits me perfectly.

1215N EOL long time ago.. They replaced it with VX6..
HD6310 is better than Ion GPU, gaming is probably better with 1215B as well..
*
hope that's the case, I forgot where the review I've read that says the 6310 is not as good as the Ion GPU

One thing I can tell about SSD from my old eeepc, it can stand some serious abuse, I dropped my old netbook god knows how many times. lol. i doubt the 1215b can stand since the case is thinner, but after getting used to bootup and app start times on SSD, it's hard to go back.

Ah, another month to wait for the 1215b. hopefully cracking open the case won't be too difficult for me.. bye bye warranty.. tongue.gif

I wonder if the local asus distro will help 'change' the HDD for slightly higher price yet still retain the netbook warranty.
(O_o)

Basic OS/Apps prices now AFAIK.
Win7 HomeP rm359
Win7 U rm635
Office HS 2010 rm227

So with rm600, can get ori win7 and office already. smile.gif.
Win 7 too overkill in price, win 7 starter too retarded.

Confirmed not bringing in? Guess it's time to order online or look for alternative brands. I hope asus malaysia is happy losing potential customers. Time to browse for a lenovo

The latest Asus Product Guide April - May 2011 from PC Fair only show Asus Eee PC 1215B with AMD Dual Core C50, no more E350. The salesman said 1215B AMD E350 is not coming to Malaysia! But I did called Asus Hotline last week, they said it will be available from 20 April onward.

They didn't tell me on 20th April though.. Guess I'll bug them again on 20th April.

Don't think so.. most people fixated on intel... Intel is Da' best mah!

Found an i3 Travelmate at 2199..with original windows... so very tempted.... (T_T)..... but with that kind of money, want to buy SSD no budget oledi.

But I will wait for E350 Eeepc, since it's only 1399, and I already have an old ori copy of XP I'm going to put in it.. long live WindozeExPee
if get ori windows 7 also, still at RM1.75K, + RM550 SSD= 2.2K Netbook that boots windows below 1 min. tongue.gif Still got one more licence from my Office 2010 H&S.

DX11 games might suck on the onboard vid, but surely can give moderate performance with DX9/10.

AFAIK. No it doesnt. from what I've checked, the 1215B E350 is selling for the same price as the C50 version because Windoze is not included.

the size of ssd that can put in netbook is all the same?? hmm.gif
2.5 @ 1.8 inch??

Do note that the case of the 1215B is not so easy to open. I'm also worried, but if I break clips, I'd probably superglue it.. lol.. it's going to be obsolete by the time 2 years are up anyway.. that's why I rather buy cheap netbook and change every few years than buy one expensive one..

QUOTE(NanaLiew @ Apr 22 2011, 05:36 PM)
hey everyone, i called the Asus hotline yesterday and pestered the woman, and she said it is 100% confirmed asus 1215B with E350 IS COMING TO MALAYSIA. I kept asking her is it true? because some shops, and online forums say it's not coming to Malaysia at all. She told me that these shops are spreading nonsense, and she told me she received information that it has reached Malaysia on the 20th, but since it needs to go from distributor to retailer and all that, so it will only probably be available by Monday.

Good news right? No doubts here guys, I totally pestered her with 'Are you sure? Are you very sure? Are you sure it's coming?" I even asked her about the May June catalogue, she said she doesn't know but no matter what it WILL COME.

Only thing is I forgot to ask got USB 3.0 or not for Msia,  tongue.gif can someone call and ask? my credit so low already!
*
thanks for the info, nana. i will be trying to order the 1215b this monday. see if they have or not. if not, i will curse them and buy another laptop. if i have to wait until its almost obsolete to buy, not much point.

still looking for E350 for a friend, looks like it DM1Z is the way to go, or start looking at the Asus Lamborghini models since the price drop makes them good value for money.

Personally, couldn't wait, bought an intel i3 CULV instead, expensive, but I just couldn't wait anymore.. curses to asus malaysia for not realising their own product line popularity.
