I'm going for intel x25m G2. it's priced around rm500+ for the 80GB AFAIK. I haven't considered other brands, but if there are cheaper ones, I'd probably consider it, since I doubt the AMD system can use the extra speed the intel SSD offers. At Kelantan, there's ready stock for the intel SSDs only, so there's not much of a choice here.

I find that 80gb is enough for me, since I don't install extra software, just software for work, and loading occasional DVDrips for watching movies on the go. I think it's worth for the performance and (supposedly) better battery power consumption.

My old laptop 250GB never even used up 100GB lol.

And my old netbook, lol, the eeepc 701 had only 4GB SSD. It required a lot of winxp and office tweaking to get it to run with free space to spare. Still  I managed to install basic browser plugins and media codecs+players to boot. ended up with 3.25GB worth.Moved data to SD, still using it now, but the keyboard is already wacky, that's why considering the 1215B now. Strangely, the battery on my old eeepc still quite lasting about 2-3 hours (it's the first model, i overclocked it too, see sig)

The 1215N has gotten better reviews for gaming, that would be an option for those wanting a gaming netbook. If for work purpose and surfing, I think the 1215B fits me perfectly.

1215N EOL long time ago.. They replaced it with VX6..
HD6310 is better than Ion GPU, gaming is probably better with 1215B as well..

hope that's the case, I forgot where the review I've read that says the 6310 is not as good as the Ion GPU

One thing I can tell about SSD from my old eeepc, it can stand some serious abuse, I dropped my old netbook god knows how many times. lol. i doubt the 1215b can stand since the case is thinner, but after getting used to bootup and app start times on SSD, it's hard to go back.

well it says similar here if just the GPU, but E-350 CPU pawns Atom far far, so gaming would definitely be better since CPU plays a part as well..

So means the Dell m101z with K345 processor still worth getting eventhough E350 is released?
*
U need to look at the whole package...

Like Atoms, N550/N570 actually is better than C-50 in terms of processor, but overally GPU has to be taken account as well and it's been proven that Atom lose out a lot overall because of the crappy GMA 3150

Basically Asus did chuck those specs into their 1215B. Only thing is the battery life doesn't reach that 8 hour yet.

The MSI X370 with an 8 cell battery nearly reaches 8 hours but it's a 13" subnotebook.

Wow, the 1.4kg 13inch has 8-cell battery!?

Guys .. there is no 1215B in the PC fair.. I went there to check it out.

They said they had stocks at HQ but not at the fair.

HP Dm1z was there though, 1499RM. 1569RM after the 4gb ram upgrade.

Pretty reasonable if you ask me, so I got one.

Plus it is upgradable to 8 gig ram.. which I will do so later.

However, there were other sweet amd-e350 laptops out there. MSI has a sleek 13.3"" variant and a 15.6"" variant as well. Even lenovo had a 14'' variant for 1399.

Although I do miss out the USB3.0 port of the Asus, I do have a laptop with a better design (imo), sleeker, more compact

I am typing on it right now ... and it feels awesome for its size. However, the processor speed is not quite as fast as I had hoped. It takes abit long to boot up. You will experience some lag here and there.. especially with all this hp bloatware. Despite that, I am quite amazed at how smoothly it plays movies, hd content, and less demanding games.

All in all for a netbook... I am quite pleased.

You can start posting pics in the dedicated thread =) another forumer also got it yesterday for rm1440 with no free gifts though..
Slow boot up is due to Bloatwares mainly.. Just delete all the useless ones should be ok.. Or do a clean install

I wanted to get the Acer Aspire One 522 with AMD C50 processor. However it seems like Malaysia doesn't have it. Asus have one with C50 though.

Btw, what's the difference between E350 and C50?
*
Acer AO522 was out 2 months ago, now EOL'ed already because sales weren't good enough... You might still be able to find one if you look hard enough..

E-350 is basically an OC'ed C-50, and the integrated GPU as well... HD6310 is an OC'ed version of HD6250..

E-350 performs better but battery life would be lesser since it consumes more power...

WoW Asus 1215b not launching with AMD E-350? Seriously W.T.F

Perhaps they couldn't keep the price competitive; the 1215b C-50 is already RM 1399, compared to the HP Dm1z E-350 which including OS is RM 1499.

I'm glad I didn't wait.

No one interested in the Lenevo G475? I see people buying the Asus k43u and MSI 15.6'' system, but don't see too many people going for this model. I mean, buying a 14 incher for a low end processor is obviously not a good decision but since so many are still opting for it why not go for Lenovo?

I can't wait till the x120e, I want to compare the Dm1z with the Lenovo. But they are seriously taking a long time to get their stock in Malaysia, at this rate they will lose a lot of market share on the E-350 range.
*
Well not everyone can afford proper laptops like us, 14inch for rm1.2k-1.3k is a bargain for many ppl who wanna watch movies on their laptop and do work with a bigger screen..

X120e is gonna be another level compared to dm1z, I predict the pricing gonna be around rm1.7k-1.8k with OS.. It's a real thinkpad for a cheap price tag afterall, unlike the edge 11 thinkpad wannabe.. And somemore it has matte screen.. They can give HP the headstart since they aim for a different class of ppl..

I got my 1215b today~(delivered from USA, I ordered it from Amazon)

After I keep testing it, there is a famous problem in 1215b and 1215N (maybe 1215T too). The touchpad is not working sometimes. Even I update my driver to the latest one. Some people change a new one from Asus, but the problem still exits. Some people has spent a week to find out solution. At the end, there is a guy fix it, and I will do it tomorrow after I finish my work.

===Quote from other forum===

- ISSUE SOLVED - Asus 1215 TouchPad Problem

I have had my Asus 1215B for just over a week now and have had the same touch pad issues as being described on here. I spent a couple days messing with drivers but I realized that the issue persisted whether I was running windows, Linux, or even booted into Express Gate.

However being the ingenious individual I am I decided to disassemble the laptop to check out the physical connections on the touch pad. The second time I did this I left the PC on so I could test it while wiggling wires. What I found out was the touch pad NEVER messed up while separated from the PC. After even more testing I discovered it only stopped responding when I snapped in the upper left side of the palm rest.

I decided that the issue was being caused by a pressure point somewhere so after some logical guesses I finally removed the two silver foam like pads/spacers on the PC underneath the touchpad. After 3 more days of use I have not had the issue again.

You only need to remove a few screws and you do not void warranty by opening the PC to that level. I used the instructions below:

http://netbooksreview.net/news/asus-1215n-disassembly/

PLEASE REPLY IF THIS FIXED THE ISSUE FOR YOU AS WELL...
