I have heard people having problems where they would hear tappet noises when they use fully synthetic engine oil but there's no evidence that fully synthetic oils damages the engine. Synthetic oils are designed by engineers to enhance/improve the properties of the base oil.
*
no problem la.. dont trust.. just change fully syn to my sis car last week.. no problem.. no tappet issue.. before this using 5w30.. also no problem..
10,000 km OCI laugh.gif + lighter .... ngeh2.. will change my GF FL with semi 5w30 or fully 5w40 for first 1000km service..

engineering term..

preventive is better than corrective

tak tak tak sound dunno tapet sound or the iafm problem,if appeared after using the shell oil than should be tapet if not iafm
as far as i know.next service may be u can give eneos a try. biggrin.gif
*
Pravred , thank u for buy the eneos 10w40 proracing oil from me.
Your car should be lighter with it + without tappet sound. Hehehehe

*
Most of the SC can bring ur own oil except cannot bring ur own oil filter. Keramat, damansara, pj, puchong are normal place where my customer bring their own oil

*
Eneos 10w30 is mineral bases and 3 liters. And suitable for low cc engine like kancil, kelisa, myvi 1.0

Stick to 10w40 at least.

hmmm...my FL is around 3 months plus only, went for 1k and 5k service with SC's petronas syntium 800...so is it consider as long ah? can change to lighter oil since u mentioned it will provide better fc and acceleration ?  hmm.gif

Eneos 10w30 is mineral bases and 3 liters ??  shocking.gif I went to a authorized Eneos center at Dengkil (behind KFC) and that guy show me a bottle of semi-syn 10w30 Gold colour bottle and said " now eneos come out with 10w30 d, no more 10w40 " which i find out is true bcz I cant find any bottle label 10w40 in his shop.

So if u mentioned 10w30 is mineral then my old iswara is using mineral instead of semi-syn right now!!and he charge me with the price of semi-syn  vmad.gif  I am going back to that shop to clarify liao then....feel like kena cheated wey
*
eneos 10w30 is mineral based.. that is y need to service every 5000km..i dont know about petronas.. if u change the oil every 5000km.. then it is mineral based..

if u staying in KL or near bangsar u can buy eneos 10w40 racing oil + with Eneos Service centre oil filter. nod.gif
dont worries.. free gift included

i think it's becuz mitsu GB is more reliable
*
smile.gif smile.gif

but the latest wira ( 2004 above ,VDO) using gearbox from hicom even though the design same like mitsubishi..
the code also same..
i think BLM gearbox designed by MMC but HICOM make it.. if im not mistaken.. this is what happen a years before..
that is why many new wira have gearbox problem compared to old wira.

Example only.

i hope it come from Japan

a) Apparently the 80K package involves timing belt change and some other stuff. Not sure if it's worth it or not, though.

b) I think you need around 5 bottles. That's why they 5 x RM30 = +-RM150. That's what I can see on my pdf file lar.
*
Yup. 5 liters. But some user think 4 liters enough already

Depends on yr SC T&C la...

u can bring ur own oil but not SC allow that.. since their income also coming from selling their own oil.

smile.gif I'm using 10-40W now.. and running at 120km is only for less than 10 min.Mine at 120km is very noisy  laugh.gif
*
noisy is because of the engine oil. u should try lighter oil since ur car is new.. but the problem is.. proton service interval is 5000km compared to toyota , perodua which is 8000 - 10000km.

it is hard to break but drum brake itself have many issue
it has too many component inside...and hard to fix
disc brake is easier to fix and identify

Added on June 4, 2011, 2:29 pm
it doesn't
but it gives us peace of mind...none of that eat 1 side, loose handbrake etc problem
if use disc brake...totally will not have those problem
*
if SC dont want to fix this issue.. better change the rear drum with disc brake.. around RM550 - Rm700..
the problem is, BLM servo are able to support 4 disc brake or not... smile.gif
