Brood war was pretty much dead in the foreign scene anyway, coupled with the lousy management of WCG where hackers are all to prevalent, I'm not going to miss it anyway.
WCG the disgrace of gaming

While SC2 is much more popular in the foreign scene, the GSL is actually struggling to get viewers in SK even with free vods.

GomTV -- Figure out how to attract more than 10 people to the Code S games

The Code S tours have gathered surprisingly little attention in Korea. GomTV decided to rent out a 5000 seat gymnasium for the opening ceremonies and games -- which was a bold move, considering that the last GSL finals only had 1800 people in a 6000 seat stadium.

The result was nothing short of disappointing. Only 500 people showed up, prompting one netizen to comment "Are there Arbiters present? I can't see anyone in the audience".

It only went downhill from there -- only 50 people showed up for Boxer's Code S matches, and apparently, only 10 or so people showed up for Tester's Code S matches. Whatever GomTV is doing, they need to rethink their strategies and retool how they're going to pull this off, because the initial hype in Korea is slowly turning into disinterest. Since it is up for GomTV to keep SC2 alive in Korea -- please, please, promote your games better

Semi Empty GSL finals

The previous OSL had exploding crowd of 9000 people full stadium 3 hours before the games started compare to semi empty MKP vs MVP finals. Don't be so quick to judge that Broodwar is dead in Korea. Even my Korean friends mentioned that SC2 was almost non existent in SK, where more people actually play Sudden Attack,Brood War and WoW.

in korea, BW > sc2.

in every other part of the world, sc2 > 9000, BW <1. but i feel sad for those still in BW scene....those BW-ers in TL.net are not koreans. a BW stream on TL.net can still get around 1k viewers.

Thats true, I'm just disappointed GomTV decided to declare restreams illegal..... and hiring Kelly.

GSL is nt tat popular among the Koreans but highly popular among the foreigners...
and now NASL is trying to do tat as well (and soon FXopen over here in msia)...

so far IEM grand finals crowd is pretty good as well as MLG etc...
sc2 is nt only koreans now...

ps: u would be happy moletrap would be going over to cast GSL (mostly replacing kelly) since u are a BW fan

It has nothing to do with being a BW fan, but I started listening to Moletrap's commentary since 2007 until now, I would prefer him over Kelly anytime. If you went for the SMM Dota Tournament, Kelly was literally spoiling the tournament commentary by shouting "OMG MIRANA FIRES AN ARROW" "THEY ARE WAITING FOR AN AMBUSH" and hinting the enemy team about the danger shocking.gif
