let me translate for those who cant read.

main point:-

SC1 BW got eliminated

DotA not in the list, League of Legend will take over the spot (lol, dotards wink.gif )

im glad war3 FT is still in but seriously...............WCG in korea WITHOUT BROODWAR????

thats why in TL.net when they ask us to vote, most of the veterans ask us to vote for sc1 BW and War 3 because there will be more than enough husky fans to make sure sc2 WoL will get in. =(

this is a sad news for a RTS fan. ='|

Previously also have WoW inside WCG already i thought? Or was that other competition laugh.gif

Anyway they should have both SC1 and SC2 in the tournament rather than picking 1.

well they are replacing scbw with sc2 as sc2 have more foreigners...
not many foreigners are playing scbw competitively anymore which is a good choice...

read http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessag...topic_id=199047 on the reason

Added on March 7, 2011, 1:15 pmWorld Cyber Games announced officially today that StarCraft 1 will no longer be part of WCG Grand Finals lineup. In its stead, StarCraft 2 has been selected.

Reason behind it is that "We decided to remove StarCraft 1 from our games lineup after a discussion with the gamers from all over the world, as well as the partner companies. Also, as we aim to represent the world's premier gaming tournament, we chose to use StarCraft 2 -- as the game is popular worldwide."

Fomos notes, while StarCraft 1 is removed only from the Grand Finals lineup, it is not likely to be seen on any WCG events from now on.

ya, that is just sad. broodwar is much more competitive although popularity wise sc2 blow sc1 away.

Added on March 7, 2011, 1:50 pmcant say i didn't see it coming, but it still hard to swallow

Brood war was pretty much dead in the foreign scene anyway, coupled with the lousy management of WCG where hackers are all to prevalent, I'm not going to miss it anyway.
WCG the disgrace of gaming

While SC2 is much more popular in the foreign scene, the GSL is actually struggling to get viewers in SK even with free vods.

GomTV -- Figure out how to attract more than 10 people to the Code S games

The Code S tours have gathered surprisingly little attention in Korea. GomTV decided to rent out a 5000 seat gymnasium for the opening ceremonies and games -- which was a bold move, considering that the last GSL finals only had 1800 people in a 6000 seat stadium.

The result was nothing short of disappointing. Only 500 people showed up, prompting one netizen to comment "Are there Arbiters present? I can't see anyone in the audience".

It only went downhill from there -- only 50 people showed up for Boxer's Code S matches, and apparently, only 10 or so people showed up for Tester's Code S matches. Whatever GomTV is doing, they need to rethink their strategies and retool how they're going to pull this off, because the initial hype in Korea is slowly turning into disinterest. Since it is up for GomTV to keep SC2 alive in Korea -- please, please, promote your games better

Semi Empty GSL finals

The previous OSL had exploding crowd of 9000 people full stadium 3 hours before the games started compare to semi empty MKP vs MVP finals. Don't be so quick to judge that Broodwar is dead in Korea. Even my Korean friends mentioned that SC2 was almost non existent in SK, where more people actually play Sudden Attack,Brood War and WoW.

in korea, BW > sc2.

in every other part of the world, sc2 > 9000, BW <1. but i feel sad for those still in BW scene....those BW-ers in TL.net are not koreans. a BW stream on TL.net can still get around 1k viewers.

GSL is nt tat popular among the Koreans but highly popular among the foreigners...
and now NASL is trying to do tat as well (and soon FXopen over here in msia)...

so far IEM grand finals crowd is pretty good as well as MLG etc...
sc2 is nt only koreans now...

ps: u would be happy moletrap would be going over to cast GSL (mostly replacing kelly) since u are a BW fan

It has nothing to do with being a BW fan, but I started listening to Moletrap's commentary since 2007 until now, I would prefer him over Kelly anytime. If you went for the SMM Dota Tournament, Kelly was literally spoiling the tournament commentary by shouting "OMG MIRANA FIRES AN ARROW" "THEY ARE WAITING FOR AN AMBUSH" and hinting the enemy team about the danger shocking.gif

im not a BW fan, i spend more than 70% of my free time playing sc2 now but sometimes i just cant stand how ridiculous the game can be, i will still open BW. BW has the most balance interface in the time being. tho sc2's graphic is much more superior, BW is much more interesting in the hand of koreans. even in GSL final, we can point out so many mistakes of the finalist but in BW, they play almost perfectly every game.

i still play BW with my classmates occasionally.

owh well, SC2 is still developing, im sure after 5 years, it will just be as epic as BW.

I will laugh if i were to see SC2 to be in WCG MY's official game.

Marshal: Only an island with 8 PC will be used for starcraft 2 due to slowmyx.
