Luck yes, but I would say with minimal role.
Join a good company, leverage your strengths, you can move up faster than the others. Maximize your potential and gain as much as you can when you are still young.
Be passionate in your job, with passion things move faster. smile.gif

My university friends, same field, same Degree and one of them with a better result than mine; yet I'm earning more than them, about 1.5x or more depending on locations.
I'm lucky because I was accepted to join a good company and with wonderful working environment.
This triggers my passion and I always strive to learn as much as I can. My ex-bosses can see my effort and fought the best remuneration package for me every year.
I'm still in the same company but I was being recommended to another superior and have taken up a new role beginning of this year and reporting to a new manager. Tougher life but I know this is the best arrangement for me.
*
To join a good company or not is not in our control. Is a company to select/choose you. But will of cuz send a resume to have a very good luck if only they call you back biggrin.gif

For me, I have lost all the interests and only want a stable job. Stable salary which can be save up for my near future.

To be Frank, the groceries, expenses, foods and biills have occupied the biggest cash flow in & out in our saving account. The problem is our food in Malaysia is very expensive. If we dont compare the currency conversion in our country I found out we still need to pay double for a meal. What i meant the portion they serve is getting smaller and we need to order extra sometimes no?

Yeah, I do understand and my family has been bugging me to own a property soon.
Still, as a contractor, it is difficult to get bank loan. That's the reality. sad.gif
Well, let me be a permanent staff one day, then I think I'll be eligible.

Sadly, I don't have a BF to share the pain with me. I'm a workaholic, in a way... sad.gif

Fruitie, be cheerful, I'm also working with contract basis. You are a capable girl, what kinda pain you like to share with your future bf? House? Never think to share a property with them if you haven't decide to marry them. wink.gif There are many posibilities could be happenned if one day they run? Just my advice. nod.gif

smile.gif smaller company tends to give better increment than big mncs if you are a key player but intense working life and long working hours are sacrifices one has to make.

Now that i am with the new company, my increment for the coming years might not be as great as what i had achieved before but nonetheless i will do whatever it takes to get me the highest ratings for my performance appraisal.
*
Which one you prefer the most. Yearly increment or bonus?

Of coz it depend which come more.

Bonuses normally you need to tahan till the year end only get it, and high increment help u to jump further in next job.
*
QUOTE(Penangnitesz @ Jan 12 2012, 04:38 PM)
definately better increment.. with better increment u will stand better chance for promotion and etc as well...\
The logic behind is that , if you can perform and that your basic is closer to the salary for the next position, you tend to get shortlisted easier.
*
Ya, I agreed with both of you. But how if the increment rate is only 2-3% of your basic salary but the bonus is quite attractive which will be higher than your increment rate? sweat.gif

increment of 2-3% is not even an increment at all!

normally applicable for the guys who gets ranked " needs improvement"

if u get this kind of ranking u also wont get good bonus lah

lol, strongly agree. but if the company benefits are good , won't you stay for further negotiation? wink.gif

QUOTE(sebastian_ @ Jan 12 2012, 07:53 PM)
Hi, i'm a fresh grad, i get an offer as system tester which 2.7k, but i'm wanna try network field first.

if i accept the 1st job as system tester, 1 year later, i jump to a network base company like huawei or mesiniaga for a different position like system engineer or network engineer.

My question is : will my salary will increase? or remain? or decrease ? because my previous working experience and background is different.

Thanks
*
QUOTE(sebastian_ @ Jan 12 2012, 11:13 PM)
Thanks for the reply, another question is, current i get few offers, if i turn them down, but few years i apply again for the same company, will they reject me because i rejected them before? or they will re-consider again?
*
QUOTE(sebastian_ @ Jan 12 2012, 11:46 PM)
But i rejected their first offer, they won't blacklisted me?
*
@Sebastian, Don't worried for your salary first, experience is more important in your future employment. Fresh grad for RM2.7k now is considered very good and reasonable on this market now. I remembered I only got RM1.6k when I graduated on 6 years back doh.gif

Number of years of experience is only a rough indicator. Its the quality of the experience that counts.
*
During the interview season no matter how good you promoted yourself to the interviewers , they wouldn't find if you are who were from last company. This is why they take you for 6 months probation ( Worth to pay what you expected in the next employment). It is very much depends how much you can perform well and be smart for negotiating on the salary part.

Sorry, What I meant is we think we should get higher paid but end up we still get underpaid. What I experienced working in my previous company wasn't good at all. No control at all, others can get higher salary just because they are their relative or friend's of friend? wink.gif I've to say it is not fair for some employees who work hard, and those who they are friends of this company can get better offer and benifits. icon_question.gif To be frank, how much we can really ask for? How much luck we can be selected when we hunt for a new job?

To add on, we still need some lucks whether if the company will take us. Best of luck

Prada,

AGM at local bank is equivalent to SVP (Mid). Senior Manager = VP entry and Mgr = AVP.

I am another level to GM which entitled me to handle a Division. That is why I am stating that I am underpaid. FYI, I have already 23 people reporting to me.

The GM's are getting about 30K min. and up to 50K p/month.

I am expecting atleast 20K p/month.

I think not every bank will offer the same paid. As you have mentioned you are currently working in a Local bank? I agreed one thing, when you started to earn RM2k ,you wish to get RM4k, when you got rm4k , you wish to get rm8k. And when you get RM8k , you will request double of it again. We will never statisfy for the money we earn smile.gif I understand your efforts work with your current position should get higher pay.

Btw, I think you earn a decent amount or maybe more you wish. thumbup.gif

Only the title changed. Feel like a junior....manager.  doh.gif
The bank has a extensive corporate ladder, so just a manager is still at the bottom.
And it is said that the market is slowing down and the bank is taking a cautious approach...blah blah blah, But having my salary being bumped up about the amount that I got, I guess I am contented.

Maybe when I decide to leave next year or so, I can get a better pay raise, using the title as a leverage and the amount of time I took to be promoted.

1) Skin color
2) Not a PR
3) Degree not recognised

But you never know unless you try. I think you should give it a go. Let me know if you have any questions and I will try to help.

Skin color doh.gif Are you working at Aussie now? Beside these 3 reasons, what other options we can apply to work at there? Thanks notworthy.gif
