Salary is subjective. You can be working more years but if you're not a competent worker you would not be paid as well you hope for. On the other hand if you're intelligent and competent your salary can rise exponentially within a short period.

It also boils down to how contented you are, some people are contented with their jobs and don't mind getting paid less.
