Not young anymore, hitting the big 3 soon  . Anyway to answer your question, I have CCNP. Prior to joining this company though, I had none and was actually in another industry so I consider myself lucky that this company gave me an opportunity to be in the networking field 3 years ago and I'm glad I took it, never looked back since, sort of my calling I guess. What's even more surprising is that they hired me although I had zero networking background but I quickly proved myself after joining this company. I worked really hard and got my CCNA and then CCNP within 2 years.

Not sure if I'm qualified to give you advice but I can say this. At some point you will have to decide which path you would like to go - management or technical. If you like/enjoy technical stuff, go for it and work hard. Do NOT think or get the impression that you have to go the management way to be paid handsomely. Go with what you enjoy and can excel at. The trend nowadays is that if you have really good technical skills, you can command very good salary which is a lot of times higher than some managers' especially if you are a consultant or solution architect with the right certification. I know and have seen people who fit into this category, myself included (unless my manager lied when he told I'm making more than him  ).
