Haha, I would put it as extremely rare. I have a friend who graduated from MIT 3 years ago, indeed a gifted programmer as he  graduated as one of the top in his class and his starting pay in a consultant firm in KL is around 4.5k. He is 28 years old now and his earning is around 8k which is still way behind those LYN "gifted" member who just work for 2 years and can command 10 k salary. Some might argue that degree does not means anything but let me tell u this, my friend is one of the most hardworking and smartest guy I have ever seen and he also good in socializing. So I see him as a very successful guy for manage to achieve 8k salary within 3 years but when I checked LYN forum, I got a shock of my life with all those NUMBERS.

You're not wrong to question the validity of the numbers that are coming up in LYN but I wouldn't go as far as to say they are all liars. Certain industries and jobs pay extremely well ie. strategy consultants where the big 3 (MBB) start fresh grads on five figure salaries. If your friend from MIT stayed in the IT side of consulting, he is doing relatively well. If he moved to management/business consulting, 8k is expected by around the third year for certain firms and within 2 years for others.

What I do notice though is that high pay corresponds to either business or a very good education. You want to achieve what some others have, pick one and go all out. smile.gif good luck
