planning to do some renovation at my car porch by extending & changing my existing gate...the house's width was 20 feet...and planning to install 16 feet folding gate (with autogate)...since i require to park my 2 cars + 1 motorcycle side by side, so need advices from forumers;

a) whether 16 feet is sufficient or not...? when the gate is folding, the total width of entrance suppose to be 14 feet, (am i right..?) & based on your experiences, is it sufficient for my cars to park straightly side by side?

b) or should i just consider to install swing gate rather than folding gate? (to maximize the entrance width..)

thanks for any suggestion...

it seems good enough.. considering you gate pillar is 2 feet wide on both side. I looks like it's already the max size you can go..

which one is better...? by symmetrical 2 feet both side or 3 feet + 1 feet...? planning to have just a small garbage bin at one side...

but i see normally the developer make it unsymmetrical for both side....so is it ok if i just make it symmetrical...or it will be unusual...?

I think, symmetrical or non symetrical is not an issue.. it's owner's creativity..
Most of the time, I see the pillar is at least 2 1.5 feet wide, including mine...
maybe because the pillar needs to be big to support a heavy gate..

16' double folding / swing gate also same one, the clearance will be slightly more than 14' after minus the hinge/ motor

i think so too.. after folding... the gates at each side gonna take like 1/2 or 1 feet of space.
Anyway, it's not that significant.. I'm not trying to discourage or anything ...

swing has wider entrance but it also requires twice the space vertically for clearance. For my house instance, I need a folding gate so that my second car could turn in (from anti-direction) to her slot comfortably without much steering maneuver..
