Perhaps now is a time where we slow down on pro camera gears while many Japanese now are out of food supplies, electricity and many other basic amenities. Let's pray hard that Japan will recover soon and I'm now funding to own myself my first Made In Japan Nikon item.

there was one time I did comparison with my friend who own 550D.
we did a bull shit talk regarding the best camera system. yeah we both agree Leica pawn both Nikon and Canon.
however we decide to do ISO comparison between 550D and D3100.

even though 550D having a capability to use ISO 6400 it's pretty unusable. where as D3100 having capability of ISO 3200 where it's pretty unusable on certain lighting situation. however in ISO 3200 I believe D3100 pawns 550D not for being subjective.

but I think Nikon will always 1 step ahead of Canon in term of ISO performance in their APS-C cropped camera because Nikon's ASP-C sensor is insignificantly larger than canon however those insignificant larger will make difference I believe.

anyway the test performed by me and my friend just a stupid test for curiosity fulfillment.
No thus scientific approach performed. (Didn't mount on Tripod, we just shoot it casually).

Do you actually know that D3100 running on new sensor ?

I've always been curious on how you guys justify ISO performance?

1. Go for 100% crop
2. Pixel peeping?
3. How about print?

Yes I know it's new sensor,jz dat I dun reali play wif it,so dun know how high d iso can go,as 550d no problem @ iso 3200 most of d time.

Btw,thx bro celciuz for d suggestion,dat bag mid to put down onli can open d front part rite? Ani bag day can change while carrying? Coz prefer casual & convenient type.

Then get a lowepro flipside, no need to put the bag down..just rotate it around the waist ..

this is confusing dude. yesterday in canon thread and ur signature, u posted that u r using the 500D, but here u said ur uncle gave u 600D, and u also own a D3100, u own all 3 ah?

I had a flipside before but sold it to fund my TT backpack..now kinda miss it

How did u test it? Don't tell me u use jpeg and view on camera screen to see the noise.. to me I always shoot with noise reduction turn OFF to get the maximum details..

1. Shoot raw, both exposure must be the same ( manual mode better )
2. turn off in camera NR.
3. crop 100% on lightroom and compare

To me that's the ideal way of testing noise performance

yes i own3 before this you can see my old post i was a canon,than my uncle ask me use nikon lah better so he give me his D3100 cause he stop DSLR ,then i hear he is going to HK for a work trip,i ask him to belanja me a lens 70-200mm vr2 ,then when i came to his house he past me the Canon 600D ,and i ask him where the 70-200vr2 but instead he gave the 600d and say this your birthday present ,the 70-200 is out of my budget,and about my siggy i not yet edit it ,busy doing my history homework
