Fellows, I'm now looking at getting either a cheap 32" 720P LCD TV or a 24" 1080P LED TV, budget wise is around RM1200, the cheaper the merrier. This TV is purely for PS2/Wii/PS3 gaming, as for movies I already have a 42" 1080P LCD TV to cover. So I would like to know whether it is worth to get high resolution over bigger screen size or vice versa.

if i got RM1200..i will buy Acer 24" 3D Monitor..the price is RM1299 + including 3D shutter glasses brows.gif

for cheaper solution u can get any 24" Monitor with HDMI or Toshiba 24" LCD TV RM699 or Toshiba 24" LED TV for RM999

Normally i would go for a monitor since it's able to support pc and console. If u r going for monitor without 3D,u can try Samsung P2770H at RM1079 or Dell U2311H for RM609.For monitor,i usually like Samsung or Dell.LCD or LED TV would be Sharp,Sony and Samsung.

Anyway,if u dont wan a monitor,i suggest u got for bigger size + higher resolution.To me,1080p is a must for gaming.

I would like to use component video for PS2 and Wii therefore I'm looking for a TV because monitor with component video input is poor at upscaling so i'm afraid the PS2 and Wii games will look bad. While most PS3 games are 720P, and even downscale from 1080P will still look nice. So I would like to get opinion on higher resolution or bigger screen, of course a 32" 1080P LCD TV is best for both world but over my budget.

Toshiba 24" LED TV for RM999 -> This is the one i mentioned in my post smile.gif
Now offer @RM799 only drool.gif
but want to know compare to a 32" 720P the 1080P helps or not to sacrifice screen size.

I see.As u mentioned,since most PS3 games are 720p,getting a 1080p LCD TV dont help much then.I suggest go for bigger screen size.Unlike pc gaming,720p to 1080p is a huge difference.

Thanks.
Well this TV is for console gaming, for PC gaming I have a 22" LCD @1680x1050 which is good enough for my HD4870. Looks like a bigger screen is better for console gaming, even the RM799 Toshiba LEV TV looks attractive.
And when I'm dying for 1080P at bigger screen, I still have the 42" LCD TV when my folks are not watching TV. smile.gif

I beg to differ. more & more games are going 1080p. Even PSN games are also going 1080p. But I agree that the bigger the screen size the better. Don't waste money on a 24" 1080p TV because you won't see any difference unless the TV size is at least 32".

To me 720p should be enough, most games still only support 720p. I can count 17 out of 24 games I have only support up to 720p. Besides when I play in either 720p or 1080p resolution, I cannot see any difference. This based on my 24' monitor. Bigger than that maybe you can see the difference.

This is wat i said earlier,it's not noticeable from 720p to 1080p for console at least to me but the difference is big for pc gaming.

I might have missed something/somewhere, but can our Malaysian PS3 (I'm still using the fat console) play DVD from Region 1/Region 2? I know BR games are pretty much region free but what about DVDs?
