i got mine august last year,
nearly 40-50 demos on the HDD,
more tahn 10 psn games on it.

trust me,120gb is not enough,so do the 160.
go for 320gb!

PS3 SLIM :

120gb - 250gb cech2000 series ( earlier model mobo for slim )

160gb - 320gb cech2100 & cech2500 ( using latest mobo )

* some 120gb model also using latest mobo which is 2100 series

safe but also depend on your luck and what type of HDD you upgrade.

so if you don't wanna push your luck, just stick to the stock HDD like me, unless you got nothing better to do.

upgrading PS3 HDD is totally safe.. don't worry..
maybe it's my bad luck the damn HDD failed on my console..
and few pages back got user complaining about WD Scorpio Blue 500GB giving him problem..
the console can detect the HD, after few day it'll hang.. XMB so damn slow..
i change back to original 320HD it works fine..
thrown dat HD away ady.. laugh.gif

So basically is just a bad batch of HDD failing lah
Did you get replacement for the faulty HDD and ahh try in PS3 again tongue.gif

why need to upgrade if you can use usb connection hmm.gif (i'm super noob -sorry)

if we only play from disc it wont full the hdd right

mobo or GPU?i tot latest Slim using better GPU core..it's cooler than previous model 2000

now there are few PSN game from Disc version like Ape Escape, ModNation, AC etc..these game size are not small bro laugh.gif

Some disc game need lot of space on HDD, I can only think of GT5 but there are others
Plus many many great games on PSN and PS1/PS2 classics...only can play from HDD
