Not as often as Symbian phone lag.

Nexus S is not new version. SGS 2 is SGS's successor.

WCDMA data drinks power like short circuiting the battery. I change to EDGE when I don't need to tether/download. EDGE is good enough for casual browsing and widget updating.

Anyone using Brut Google Maps? Any undesired consequences?

brut maps is excellent. I love the voice turn-by-turn navigation! No issues at all. Only that it is based on older google maps version.

many live wallpaper cpu usage is minimal, not significant enough to cause battery drain.

U can replace with ur google map, n used it as offline map. It save the map in ur internal sd that u view b4 using data network. It cant used as navigation app if no data network connection.

Correct me if Im wrong bcos I used it long time ago. Not sure its update.
*
I have unlimited data plan. Not an issue even if it needs 1GB of traffic. laugh.gif

Can I not replace the original Google Map? Is Brut GM uninstallable in case it causes undesirable activity?

In what situation would the phone be confused of which to open? I have already installed the renamed and tagged version (side by side installation) before I saw your post.

I couldn't get Navigation to work on Brut Maps. It shows getting direction but a voice would say "data connection lost" although it was never lost.

By selecting Starred places, the navigation works. I am not driving now but there seems no voice guide. laugh.gif I can get force close easily if I attempt to do anything funny in the navigation.

thanx for the link..mind to elobrate a bit about POP, IMAP & Exchange accnt? why do we use exchange account instead of IMAP, coz AFAIK gmail is using IMAP to connect with our phone right?
*
POP: polls on regular basis from your phone
IMAP: today's standard of email. Gmail uses this on your computer's Outlook but not the push mail on your phone.
Exchange: Microsoft Exchange platform. Email, contacts and calendar through an exchange account. Push capable.

is currently with 3G turned on....will try EDGE today....
is actually wiped not long ago,any apps to recommend to monitor suspicious programs....? is thinking to flash stock froyo 2.2.1 into it....not sure will improve the situation or not... sad.gif

Update:my phone turned itself off after around 16 hours since unplugged, based on my battery usage,my display drains most of my battery,80+% off total sweat.gif with my LCD brightness' slider is already at it's lowest.

my battery level just dropped around 15% alone just played a lil' (5 minutes) of video playbank, and a lil' web browsing in 1 hour peiod, using wifi and 3g interchangeably not to mention it felt a little hot at the back as well....

i personally don't think this is normal.....any opinions from you guys?  cry.gif
*
Turn itself off - Once in a blue moon. Only occured once in entire time I had the phone. Not normal if it occurred often.
Display has high % usage - Normal if you did use the phone. Up to 99% is also normal, in fact it's a good thing that not other components which drains the battery.
Drop 15% in 1 hr of browsing - Normal if you use 3G/HSDPA, in fact better than my phone. Heavy HSDPA traffic will consume 1% every minute. Tested with my friend's SGS as well.
Warm - Normal if you used for browsing/games/video. My highest battery temperature was 55C by just tethering HSDPA to my computer.

I didn't feel that these attributes was abnormal because my previous HTC PDA was hotter and has shorter battery life.

Recommended action: Install stock ROM with no other apps to confirm that no apps are causing abnormal experience for you.

Locked bootloaders only exist for Galaxy Tab, no? I haven't seen any SGS firmware with locked bootloader.

Shit, I just update to latest original Samsung firmware I9000ZSJPJ
And I find that the Z4ROOT just won't work anymore. Arghh.... Have to use superoneclick!
*
z4root has been unmaintained. New ROMs cannot be rooted using z4root, including our official DXJPE.

ANyone with 3button combo problem? I tried flashing the 3 button combo fix with odin. it's bricked now. Only show Phone ! PC icon when try to boot. Is my bootloader still intact?? I hope so. So USB JIG can get into download mode in this condition??? anyone experience this??
*
Bootloader still intact whenever you still see something. When bootloader is screwed, there won't be anything on screen.

Anyone try this Kernel Flasher before for restoring your backup kernel?

Might be a good idea if you want to revert to stock kernel. Saves the hassle to re-flash the entire ROM.
*
I've tried. Nothing special. Just works. Lol

You don't have to reflash entire ROM to restore kernel. Just extract the kernel image and flash via Odin. No data will be lost.
