SHould have just kept it and opened separate accounts with other banks if u wish.

KFH = syariah compliance

here's a tot.

example 100g - when you sell bank buy, rate let say 165/g = 16500, then you buy bank sell, rate let say 175/g = 17500.

so to get back the original 100g you need to add 1000.

in this case, profit or loss?

Hi, I am a student from a university. I have saved some money. Thinking of buying gold as my first investment. Hoping I could get several important advices & experiences here. I did some researches, I know US economy may collapse to worst soon. So, gold would be what people looking for as a valuable property at that moment. It will shoot up fast. I guess.
1) Which bank actually gives better offers?

Tq, big bro & bog sis.

I'm a student, and turning to 21 this november (I hope it is not too late). I am going to open an account soon. Maybe i open with MBB since i have MBB savings acc and MBB is one of the nearest bank that i can find in my place. So, I'm gonna start small. I hope the gold price will go down to as what i spotted (sorry guys). Then immediately i will open an account. and after that i will increase the amount of gold in my account from time to time. I hope i can join you guys soon, btw this is gonna be my first investment smile.gif
*
i think not all MBB have gold account.

banks are jumping into the gold game as they see a potential in precious metal in the long run. gold companies too. so each and everyone is competing with each other. that's why you can see all sorts of promotions which make you so confius.

it doesn't matter if you buy physical or paper bcos in malaysia we have ridiculous and weird rules and regulations. we have not choice but to follow.

the point is just buy either one or both types of gold. it has been explained numerous times (read old posts) and you'll find the golden answer there.

well i'm just saying.....

yes. you must have the original receipt.

btw, does anyone knows/tried selling back gold coins to uob which was bought from someone else who bought from UOB?

i.e A buys from UOB. A needs money and sell to B at cheaper price than UOB sell, higher than UOB buy (win-win)
Can B take the coin bought from A and sell back to UOB? Or is it only the registered purchaser can sell back?

cyber,
usually based on 2009.2010 gold goes upward nearing deepavali and continue slowly to rise until dec. then will be sideways until end jan/early feb (CNY) where the price will go down a bit. maybe a lot of chinese sell of gold to celebrate CNY?

i'm waiting for a dip right now to enter back, else dump in ASB first then wait next jan/feb to enter.

past performance does not indicate future performance.

if i had the money for 400gm, i'd goes for uob, could get rm1.50 spread.
*
wow, bought 400g in 2010, must be around 50k rclxm9.gif

must be laughing quitely at all of us here who are still asking questions whether o buy or not doh.gif

good for you, mate thumbup.gif

btw if i have 400g i'd still go for KFH and you you know why.

Hi bro, but who would do that? Why selling at much cheaper price when I can just sell back to the bank? Unless the bank is very far away from my house? But my opinion is that as long as we have the receipt then should be okay I suppose. The question is, if I lost the receipt, what are the consequences?
Why is KFH better? can you explain? sorry if i didn't catch up with the earlier stories. I thought as long as whichever spread is lower then go to which bank? Although the initial deposit of 20gm might be heavy for some initial investors alike.
*
Just like Nidz explained, KFH=syariah compliance.

honestly, it doesn't matter if the spread is high or low bcos i know at the end of the day your selling price will be higher than the price you buy. end of the day means your projection time. mine is 5 years at least.

for you to ponder.....

"there is no income from gold; it is all capital gain/loss. History shows that the reinvestment of dividends can add a significant turbo boost to returns in the long run. However gold offers no such addition to capital gain and, unless it goes up in price, you make a loss in real terms."

so, what do you think?

that's why i think that we cannot put all our money into precious metals.
most of my moneys are in ASB, stock market, tabung haji and banks.
only properties have not made it into my protfolio yet... hehe sweat.gif
*
did you know.....

yes, there's no income from gold BUT the capital gain itself is much higher than other investment instruments UNLESS if you're talking about a million ringgit worth, then i'd diversify some to properties.

what do you think?

I still cant imagine living in a world without the use of paper money. How inconvenience is that? blush.gif How are we going to buy a 30cen stamp with gold? 1g is already worth RM172. RM0.30 = 2 mili grams, when a small wind comes the next thing u know is..... wala bye bye biggrin.gif
*
maybe we cannot imagine the realization of using precious metals and sometimes feel ridicolous bcos we are already "trained" to use fiat since birth.

but when the time comes.....

so best to be prepared icon_rolleyes.gif

Do your own research before commenting, jewellery shops do sell gold bullion too.

yes i know they do.

what i'm saying is the FGJAM price is totally irrelevent against the bank's rate. do you see the different in price?

Gold has broken through the US$ 1,800 barrier. Its now trading at US$1,821. Just wait and see tomorrow's prices in Malaysia. It will be close to RM 180 per gram unless gold drops tonite.

I think nothing will stop gold now. I should have opened up my UOB account on Monday. Damn!  vmad.gif
*
don't worry, i don't think you're out of the game bcos everyone is confident it will reach $2000 or higher - meaning the current price barely scratches the surface. rclxm9.gif

i've read many people are complaining about the spread is too high blah blah blah, which stop them opening any of the bank's account without realizing one major thing........ price in increasing every second.

just a reminder.

OMG  shocking.gif  shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif
yesterday the spread was 5.2, today already 5.4....

from 4.2 > 4.5 > 4.7 > 5 > 5.2 > 5.4

would you still go for CIMB?

for those wanted physical security - go KFH lah.... the spread RM10 is equal to PG spread 20gm...so you can already have your physical the day u deposit....

waiting does not gives u more money. today also, we'll hear more ' i should have <fill in the blanks> last week when it was USD1720/oz
*
just a reminder if you want to open an account with KFH.

i went to shah alam branch yesterday to add a few more grams. they told me now you CANNOT BUY physical but instead you CAN WITHDRAW, minimum of 5 grams.

I was dissapointed bcos I want only 2 grams and the rest put into my account.

Someone need to confirm this with KFH HQ or other branches. vmad.gif

DON'T buy Pamp from goldsmiths, expensive. Alternatively, you can do your own survey to find out.
