UK-based sports sites:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/
http://www.rockynewsnow.info/ - Its a modified version from NewsNow and concentrate solely for arsenal.. It also filtered out most crap, unreliable stuff from the blogosphere .. And best feature which still chuckled me, renamed some team/ sites to funny names .. that one you will have read yourself, it wont be much of a problem to know the original team anyway if you are an Arsenal's supporter for a while.

or follow good quality arsenal blogs which often have good insight and fan-written articles:
Arseblog ( http://www.oleole.com/blogs/arseblog ) - good old drunken arseblogger who swears at anything that's not arsenal
A Cultured Left Foot ( http://aculturedleftfoot.wordpress.com/ )- decent writeup and opinions
Gunnerblog ( http://gunnerblog.com/ ) - same as above
Goodplaya ( http://goodplaya.com/ )- probably the most accurate player analysis after a match
3rd Gen ( http://www.third-gen.com/ )- pretty good too
Arsenal Insider ( http://www.arsenalinsider.com/ )- very pro-Arsene site, but many good articles to read... great weekly TGIF, but not sure whether they still do it or not
Untold Arsenal ( http://blog.emiratesstadium.info/ )- My newest favourite arsenal site written by a die-hard old school gooner
http://www.goonernews.com - all-in-one Arsenal news web
http://arsenalist.com/ - for replays and highlights

60 minute into the game:

Palermo 0
Udinese 7

2 red cards for Palermo,
on home turf too, the fans must be furious.

why diaby not playing? or even on the bench?
we need powerful man on the pitch now
rosicky seriously wasting space,
did not closed down, poor of the ball movement and losing posession
atleast put fabregas on the pitch
he can come as supersub

What an amazing game i must say.

Birmingham learn from other team a lot and doing what they must do keep pushing Arsenal players.

Work out for Birmingham but Arsenal team was far too talented. Orgasm play by Wilshere > Arshavin > RVP!!

lolololol,
we escape a penalty on 2nd minute
and then i guess it was fair for birmingham to get their goal, they deserved it
it was a beauty goal from set pieces POV, classic flick and flick...left our defenders "?!?"
sagna stand next to zigic, makes sagna looks like a midget sweat.gif

and then came our goal, yeh it was a beauty as well
initally started from pollshere to magical quick feet arshavin and robin superb finishing

all to play for 2nd half, we are in for a ride

bendt in for ross... no one is supplying the thru passes. ross is more than capable, but his movement disappoints me. bendt would be more willing to run at players at the flanks

To me,Denilson can only be in..Arsenal reserves sweat.gif Even when play FIFA Manager Mode I always sells him first de.. tongue.gif

On the first half, we are lucky we escaped the probable sending off and penalty, but nevertheless a not too bad result HT.Hopefully we will win it in normal time!

TR7 actually made some errors. not decent to c him play tonight. but i stil have faith in him, he is better den denilson n diaby for this moment. mayb we could put Squi in n play 3 CB n clichy n sagna push up to wing back. my dream anyway. HAHAHAHA..

No Bendtner, Diaby, Denilson until 80 minute.

Just wait for Birmingham player legs to get tired then Rosicky will put the killer pass and u all will say i love Rosicky.

i dislike this kinda outcome. If this is the way we played, i'd prefer them to score the offside call earlier. At least, injected some urgency in the game, get levelled early n we could make it 2.

protection for injury, i presume. we still need him for most of our games, and i guess with the tight fixture comin up arsene doesnt wanna take any risks. but it IS the final tho, i guess the're a real troubling reason for rvp's off.

cmon ross, it's high time you provide that killer pass

83 min: Zigic gets in between Szczesny and Djourou, much to both of their obvious annoyance. It's a disappointing delivery, and out for a throw on the other touchline. Keith Fahey is off for Obafemi Martins, who makes his League Cup final debut at the ripe old age of 67.

self destruct again....midfield disjointed...rosicky and wilshere partnership just isn't working... rosicky looks clueless most of the time....man...let's just move on...there's just no fluidity in arsenals's game

To be honest, I don't think the way we played tonight deserved the victory. Nobody had the urgency it seems except Nasri or our wingbacks. The rest seem content to pull a Denilson today.

Rosicky's been rubbish all season, it's just some people are content in thinking he's a great squad player blah blah blah.

Either way, I give max credit to the Birmingham players. Can't be sore about it. They fought and battled to close down as soon as the ball got to our players feet. Something i can't say that our team did.

To lose a cup on that kind of mistake? I would rather we not score a goal and lost 1-0 cause Birmingham really defend to the death.

Poor Jack, played his heart out to suffer now thanks to team mates who couldn't show half the heart and commitment he did.

Don't cry Wilshere, you'll be at the top of the world some day. After we get rid of sluts like Rosicky.

most of the time rosicky decides to go at it alone in the midfield instead of working with wilshere... and most of the time he either lose the ball or pass it to opponets...

well wenger should have let RVP on the pitch mch longer, but he was too worried and took him off.he should pick rosicky and sub him with bendter.rosicky was clearly not in his top level at all.atleast that should have give gunners mch hold on the ball and attack.

no blame to kosclieny he was superb,bt sad for him, that 1 second of a mistake.cost us a trophy.

Because Rosicky just doesn't deserve the Arsenal shirt . Time and time again he caused disappointment , simply said , he ain't good enough . He himself is low on confidence , bottling the penalty against Sunderland for example .

Pity Wilshere he did his best . TBH , things doesn't look good now , CL 2nd leg against Barca at Nou Camp , and doesn't means we can advance further even we beat Barca . FA Cup replay against Leyton , advance and we'll meet MU at Old Trafford . Premier League , MU still at comfortable position , and now that the team morale went down hill , we might find it hard against other teams now .

this final reminded me of GE 2008. Gerakan was fighting over who should be the next Penang CM even before the election.

We are asking Fab to lift the trophy even before the final is played

Credits to Birmingham for the win. Ben Foster motm and certainly deserved it.

The impact of losing Carling Cup will be smaller compare to how it affect the team after this. It will show how much it affect Arsenal on the next game itself.

Won't be surprise if Arsenal lose the next few games and stuff.

imo, koscielny not suppose to take all the blame, he was trying to clear the ball as he doesn't know sczezny coming from behind (unless kos got an eye behind his head). ball clearance got distracted = mistimed clearance.

but have to admit that TR7 was the weakest link.

why sub off rvp and arsha in the first place?..... i never get the substitutions sometimes. i do tolerate it sometimes cuz the manager knows better, but this is the final... we want our best players in. RVP and arsha are the best in the field besides nasri.
*
RVP maybe the injury... Arshavin maybe his fitness is questionable.

We did pressure them a lot when Bendtner was in the middle, so I dont mind the RVP substitution. But I Arshavin should have been left on, because a tired Arshavin is still faster and more intelligent than a fully fit Chamakh. I swear, I actually muttered this to myself when I saw Chamakh warming up.

Also with Roger Johnson having an injury, it would have been wiser to have more people running at him. Heck even Bendtner is better at running in the channels than Chamakh.

Sorry Wenger. You got this one wrong.

Where was Eboue when we needed him?
Why is Bendtner hugging the line so much?
Why is Arshavin taken off when he is the most in-form player?
Lost because of a French defender.
Should have been down to ten man and give a penalty because of another French defender.

Well the only counter u will have is Arsenal will have the 3 chance to go Wembley this season. Ask them how many time can their supported team can do so.

RvP was highly frustrated, i believe he didn't even want to go up and receive the prize.

Wilshere i can see he really wants to win something at Wembley, and fortunately Fabregas didn't play and risk him for the game. Fabregas reaction losing to the game will be even bigger than any player.

birmingham won because their determination and passion outweigh ours but i still can't believe it.

Arsene Wenger shouldn't have subbed chamakh in. Nasri should have been pushed wide to open up some space for the centre forward.

Rosicky wasn't the weakest link. The weakest person was arguably chamakh who did nothing since he came on.

I won't be surprise if any Arsenal players knock Koscielny until he gets injured because this not the first time causing the match into an upset.

Sleep time, will still be speechless and thinking about the loss tomorrow morning.

To me it's either Koscielny clear the farking ball away OR just let Woj to do the job. Definitely it's Koscielny fault on the 2nd goal.

I say the fault is on Arsene himself... Coming out with such a playsafe tactic... 4-5-1... Its a really negative tactic... Only on the 70th min he bring Chamakh in and go to 4-4-2... If fabregas and walcott were fit the 4-5-1 would have worked... But starting Rosicky was definitely a mistake... I would rather he started 4-4-2 from the beginning... Have some balls lah Wenger !...

jack wilshere will say that they sabo the pitch....duuuh obv, arsenal's beautiful no end product football must be played on beautiful pitches, like the emirates, home to exactly 0 trophies. the pitch at wembley today was atrocious...le sigh.

Rosicky wasn't the weakest link. The weakest person was arguably chamakh who did nothing since he came on.
Chamakh did nothing for what ? 15 mins ? Rosicky did nothing for 90 mins, 98 mins if U count extra time...he was a shadow of his old self... maybe next season he can be on-from again, if he can stay injury-free.. but then again, has he ever been on-form ever since he came over to Arsenal ?

No point talking about what might have been... we were beaten by an outstanding goalkeeping & some poor play in our part. Our weakest link was cruelly exposed today...

I think the players would've taken a gun and shot both Kolscielny and Szechny in the dressing room.

This is actually not about the title drought but more of the psychological effect.

All the hype about winning 1st title in 6 years, now they fck it all up with a goal like that.

Its gonna take alot of motivation to get up from this one.

I swear to god Arsenal is cursed in Cup Finals.

Don't believe me?

Ars-Barca UCL Final - Lehmann got sent off in 10 mins, had to play 80 mins with 10 men, scored first, and lost 1-2.

Ars-Chelsea Carling Cup Final - Walcott took the lead, then Drogba pound them 1-2.

Now Ars-Birmingham.

Sigh. You have to really feel for them man. Footballing god on the devils side.

i disagree. rosicky did create one or two chances and tried a few himself and he kept wilshire and nasri free to roam in midfield.

But i agree with on the outstanding goalkeeping by foster and a lousy plays.

I'm not an Arsenal fan but I like the way arsenal play. Eye catching and oh so beautiful. But this is it isn't it? This sort of situation is the time where true quality players show what they're made of.

In times of desperation, true leaders step up. So,who will it be?

it's not the end of the world. of course, it is dissapointing, but this is the time when the team needs you the most.
just one loss and you start blaming players, the manager and all, and all this while you've been praising them.

real supportersmen stick by their team through thick and thin.

in my opinion we should defend as attacking as well. just that our back always two guys with goalkeeper.. why cant we make it 4 instead of 2? clincy always go up.. why dont we should ask him to go for winger and replace him with another back. tonight will give us inspriration to beat another team in FA and next BARCA and MU.. wish chelsea can help us do something this coming Tuesday... agreeed.. let go out support CHELSEA!! haha

The Problem with Arsenal has and always was MENTALITY & MINDSET.

They have probably the best technical players in the team, But they just cant lift themselves up during important games like this.

When some sh!t happens, nobody will wake them up and say COME ON GUYS!

Instead it just goes down and down and lose the game.

We were playing alright in the match, good movements with the ball and decent chances to score.

But our defence were shaky throughout the match (surprising because we had the most possession) and Ben Foster was really on form and deserved the MOTM.

I'll say credit to Birmingham, they deserve the trophy more than us.

Credits to our players who worked their socks up like Nasri and Wilshere. They deserve something tonight.

My complaints are on:
1. Substitution strategy (if it is not because of injury, Arshavin and RvP should NOT be subbed out)
2. Defense mess-up

As much as I agree with you (hey, I have been doing this for years in this thread whistling.gif), you are a bit hard on them. We have just lost one of the most important matches in the past 5-6 years!

I strongly believe that most them are just ranting out of frustration for the loss. Most of them are very true fans of Arsenal, just that they do not carry it the way you state.

Anyway, cool down and move on.

I can't stop reminding everyone like what you did: the team needs your support the most when the team is not doing well

it is not like they just threw away the cup or something. of course everybody is dissapointed, but what saddens me the most is that suddenly people are saying chesny sux, this sux that sux while all this while you guys were praising them like god.
come on la, they are human too.
its funny how some 'fans' stance on a certain player can change in a single game. you obviously don't know football, let alone play it.
*
Once again, pressure got the players again. Scezny was so good this season. I cannot believe if Almunia was in his place after Fabianski injured. Kos was in great pressure, but somehow he is like pay to concede. I am sure he will stand up

where got 4-3-3 ?.... wilshere and song holding midfield... arshavin left, rosicky right and nasri centre... of course they swapped positions during the match.... van persie up alone... playing as a deep striker....
*
it was a 4-3-3. yes wilshere CM and song plays DM and nasri plays AM where as rosicky plays RF and arshaving plays LF and RVP plays ST. This is an attacking formation where you can retreat back to 4-5-1 if during defense but during attack they were playing 4-3-3.

I can't stop reminding everyone like what you did: the team needs your support the most when the team is not doing well
*
yeah, i feel you man. sometimes emotions can cloud our judgements. but then again, this thread is full of gloryhunting kids, so, it's not much of a surprise.
for those true arsenal supporters out there, just like you kimhoong, let's just take this defeat in our stride and move forward.
there's no point fighting among ourselves.
cheers

non-constructive? did you read carefully?
im asking ppl to get over the dissapointment and stop blaming our team/players/manager rather than bashing here and there, and you're saying non-constructive?
come on.

oh btw, i dont have to be a pro player to know about football. if you play football, you should know that sometimes mistakes do happen and the pressure will get to you sometimes.

Just stop those stupid comment anymore. You guys are just rubbing salt on our wounds. Making us a laughstock to other rivals. Please man. Just think over again. We are only fans. Yes, we supported them with blood, sweat and tears. Full of humiliation we got for all these years. If you cannot stand it, support other club.
Think of the players who committed to the game today. Nasri? Jack? Robin?
Think of Wenger?
Situation is not that bad after all if you look from different angle.
This lost might wake the players up and inspire them.
We are expecting too much before this match. We underestimated them and we paid the price.

yes i did and read it again. completely bull.

true, a person don't have to be a pro to understand simple plays at most the general idea of how complicated plays work but you have to play or have played the game at competitive level at least to gain insights about football plays. nonetheless, you have yet to come with up with anything that shows you do.

cesc's twitter: "Congratulations to Birmingham. This team has great potential and there r still great targets to play for this season. Thanks for ur support."

the captain has spoken. let us move on. there are still great targets in this season, let it be realistic or not. disappointed yes, but let's not stay that way for long.

im not talking about the tactical side, im just telling people to stop being such a sore loser.
I don't think Wenger always knows best, but I do, however, think he knows better than most of us. so, what difference does it gonna make if i say this and that anyway?

oh btw, Cesc's latest tweet:

QUOTE
Congratulations to Birmingham. This team has great potential and there r still great targets to play for this season. Thanks for ur support.

this is how a professional should react. gracious in defeat.
its also funny that people who said Cesc was not the best leader suddenly say that we are missing his leadership today.

renung-renungkanlah.
time to sleep.
cheers

The person who should never put a arsenal jersey on again I Thomas rosinky this guy is a passenger on the field everytime I watch him play & this time it cost us big time. He doesn't help the team defend + going forward he is useless, he just jogging around.

remember this?

“We’re here to win trophies. But it depends on what you call trophies. Is it the Champions League, the Premier League, the League Cup? If you win the League Cup, for me, you cannot say that you win trophies.”-2005

Foster kick the ball into our penalty area and there is no Birmingham player around that time so Scezney and Kos went for the ball together. Woj ask Kos to let the ball go so that he can take but apparently kos didn't hear woj and he either missed kick it or purposely fake like hes clearing the ball. But then the ball drop on woj left foot and the ball went straight to Martins leg and he slot it in an open goal. Everyone watching happily. LOL..

Miss communication between woj and kos cost Arsenal the goal. cool2.gif
