Hey guys, new to this raw denim business so I'm not quite sure how to judge if a jean's quality is top notch or not? Obviously I don't wanna be misguided with the "if price is high, the quality is likewise" theory so therefore I'd like to ask what do you guys think about this following pair:
Naked & Famous + Momotaro Selvedge Denim in Indigo

The Momotaro x Naked & Famous collaboration denim combines the Japanese artisan craftsmanship of Momotaro and the fit of the Naked & Famous skinny guy cut. This denim is the slimmest denim ever made by Momotaro.
* The "Skinny Guy" fit is slim throughtout as it tapers from the thigh to the leg opening with medium rise
* 14 oz sanforized Japanese indigo selvedge denim uses Momotaro signature features including purple stitching running alont the inseam
* Momotaro engraved buttons and rivets
* Hidden back pocket rivets
* Chainstitched hems and waist band
* Leather patch, tags, and interior pocket lining feature logos and details of both brands
* 100% cotton
* Made by Momotaro in Kojima Japan

It retails for around $260 and yeah it's pretty costly so what do you guys think about this pair? Worth the price?
And if I'm usually a 30" wearer, should I get a size down or the actual size for this? I'm not quite sure if these would shrink or stretch.
Thanks smile.gif

Size down one.  I think there are only 600 pairs on these made and it should be a good buy.
One thing to be aware is that the SG has a very low front rise and very narrow leg opening.  If you hv huge gigantic leg, i would recommend the Weird guy cutting.

Thank you so much for the reply, really do appreciate it smile.gif
Mah leg are small so yeah they'll be fine I guess smile.gif

Hey guys, if anyone's interested with a BNWT Momotaro x Naked & Famous "Weird Guy" raw selvedge denim, let me know.

The pair is retailed at RM800+ but I am only selling it for RM700 at one of my sales thread. I'm letting this go only for RM500 for denimheads here in this thread (not offered in my thread) for 2 days.

Cheers smile.gif

Are u referring to japan blue x momotaro?off course it's a selvage denim..the only difference is japan blue x momotaro made from texas cotton while momotaro from zimbabwe cotton..

Besides the cotton, are there any other significant differences between these 2? http://blueowl.us/scripts/psp/VB_Bridge3.d...000&LANGUAGE=US and http://www.blueowl.us/scripts/psp/VB_Bridg...ail&SKU=7992000?
The one that has the Japan Blue collab is almost $100 cheaper and that's really tempting. What's so good about the standalone Momotaro one instead? Fading breaks easier? More comfy?

I'm ready for my first official raw denim now just deciding which to take. Thanks smile.gif

Thanks for the thoughts chaz and junky! Now I'm considering between the tight straight and skinny straight. I was going for tight straight at first because it would fit like a regular slim fit but after reading lots from the previous pages, many saId that the denims stretches like crazy after constant wears. I'm afraid it'll be loose and baggy in the future. Is it safe to go for the skinny cut instead if that's the case?

Thanks guys! Yeah I don't really have big thighs and stuff so I could fit on those skinnies but I really prefer the slim fit version more. I will go for the Tight Straight 1 size down smile.gif
Really appreciate both of you guy's insights!

I also have a question here, how are these type of fades achieved at this area? By doing stacking? Coz I'm not really sure how you rough it up down there. Thanks smile.gif

I know that length long = stacking. I'm just wondering if those patterns and fades that I have posted are results from stacking only? Because I love those effects and I'm just wondering how do you get those down there.

Rich folks who don't have time (or the devotion) to break their denims would go for it I guess.

The more you wash the lighter it gets. That's the fast way.

You can try hanging your jeans in the bathroom when you do your shower (assuming its a hot one), make sure your windows and doors are closed so that the room will be filled with steams. It will moisture your jeans little by little (hang em in the bathroom when you shower everyday) and it will freshen your denim up. This method is used by some when they don't feel like soaking or washing their denims as of yet. You should give this a try.

@lori, the moisture effect are only little. But if you have a 2 hours shower then it's different story I guess lol.

Anyway guys, this is a good read: How Jeans Conquered The World

It's interesting to see how much impact and effect jeans had in people's life and also many other interesting facts. Here's one:

QUOTE
Last year a microbiology student at the University of Alberta, Josh Le, wore the same pair of raw denim jeans for 15 months without washing them and then tested their bacterial content.

He tested them again two weeks after washing them and found the bacterial content to be much the same.

"This shows that, in this case at least, the bacteria growth is no higher if the jeans aren't washed regularly," said Rachel McQueen, a professor of textile science, who worked with Le on the informal scientific experiment.

I just noticed the Momotaro prices in Take5 Bangkok is really high as compared to other sources. Most of the other places' price are around RM900-1k for one but Take5's pricing are around 1.2-1.3k. That really sucks coz I was looking forward to my Bangkok trip in a couple of days.
