Blood to be taken is very fast e.g. less than 1 min. For the blood to be processed for testing right up to the results will take up 1 week. It kinda depends on what type of test kit or machine they are using. Some uses instant kit-thus the results is fast-but it's only  a screening test. If the lab does not have the facilities to perform a confirmatory test, they might have to send it to another lab for testing.
Many diseases are spread through contact of oral-fecal. Just ensure that hygiene precaution is taken care of
