For young talent like you who major in finance, the only advise that can think of is Sg, HK & China. It's a pity looking at wats available in the local market. No point wasting your precious time follow the local 'rat race' chasing small little kosong pie. Sg, HK & China are financial hubs and many MNCs set up their HQs there. What is My? Hub of tongkat, BS, cakap kosong, politicking, racist fanatics, BN/PR blah blah all tons of rubbish.

Wat you need is to build up a good resume ie joining well established company, even salary could be lower but reputation and relevant experience count in the end. Sky is the limit for those in finance/accounting in Sg, HK & China. It is mind bogging to hear the remunerations of those in finance and banking sector. Those early 30+ achieve 5 figures is nothing unless you are taking abt multiple 5 figures.

Friend of mine a CFO mentioned for those high flyers, their track record was very important. When you are freshies, people will look at consistency of your education achievements up to secondary. When you have experience, work experience counts. Tat's incl the companies that you joint, relevant job scope/experience etc.

Thereafter, after achieving some good track record overseas, then consider returning, pending whether Idris Jala is correct whether country will bankrupt by 2019, Ibrahim Ali and bunch of BS still around etc.

In My, to make real money, only alternative is business/right investments. Rich under employment, probably top 1-3% in the co plus restriction of NEP tons of BS restrict your growth. Things diff in SG, HK and China.

A lot of us, yup we may start early in monopoly game, but many are stuck in sunset industries, red ocean industries etc. Tat's why many resort to property investments as passive income. If only we can turn back time and join the blue ocean industries, oh well. Freshies should be very care what industry they are joining, even what books to study in uni. Study wrong books, opps, like many others with great results but salary not amazing. Again, study and work is different. Like friend of mine the SPM graduated businessman, looking at the way he negotiates, understanding of the market supply/demand, knowing how to work within the laws, rules, restriction and getting things approved, can even put a a PHD to shame.

Our generation X those in IT, telecom, account doing better than docs, engineers and lawyers. Don't know abt generation Y.

Another thing, don't believe too much those ETP, AP whatever. How are you so sure they will boost future property price? Let them prove first. Already enough white elephants and cock happening during the Legendary Old Man era, same pattern happening today. First of all, they are not sincere enough. Talk about ETP but you have Edu Minister than screw our education, cow head/bull head party going around, IA taking nonsense in main media etc allows to go around. You dare put faith in these bunch of BS to achieve 2020?

Ok, enough s@@t for the day. May all the BS be with the politicians and their cronies.  laugh.gif

Of course they are more than well prepared.

Just check the schedule of mega development plans of Sg IRs/MRTs, HK Kai Tak redevelopment, all happen during time of uncertainly and crisis. Getting best price for mega projects and create employment to local people. 1 stone = 2 birds.

Tat's to show how smart the gomen cp to My distorted brain dumbo. Development plans only prior to GE. Cakap kosong, money gone.  mad.gif

As a M'sian (33 yr old engineer) who has been working in UK for 10 years after graduated from the Uni, I am not sure when I will return to M'sia. I read a lots about the M'sia negative news online such as high rate of crime, high cost of living, unfair system to non-bumi etc. But here is different, low crime rate, employee right is highly respected, fair system to everyone regardless your colour etc. I work hard and get rewarded (overtime) and highly respected by Directors and colleagues. In the Western society, they look after employees including foreigners who work hard and contribute to the society. I am not too sure if this the same in M'sia? I always think I will go back as my parents and friends are there but in the meantime I worry I will regret if I go back too soon. I am kind of stuggle because I miss friends and family but at the same time I want to be succussful and achieve something for myself. Any senior/uncle advice will help me to clear my mind, thanks.

My oh... my, we are comparing our own dear country with a foreign country!! And some feel that they get better treatment when they are in foreign land!!  sweat.gif

It's like saying other people parent treat me better than my own parent.  rclxub.gif

While our patriotism towards the country is unquestionable.

I see the big picture as such:-

Individual opinion and racism  -- How an individual view and opinion towards racism is very much an individual thing. The country could not stop one individual or punish him if he is racist as long as he does not offend the law of the country.

Government policy -- However government policy is extremely important and obvious whether the governmental policy is bias or racist.

However, since we are all born into this world. The choice is for us to make. If we do not feel comfortable, then we should change and make selection. Or strife for better chance to have better options. If the company does not treat us good, we leave. If the country is not treating us good, we can also choose to leave. And if we choose to stay and fight for our future generation, we state our points and take our actions to help fulfil the dream. In all cases, be positive and inspirational!!  thumbup.gif

Thanks for the advice from all experience seniors, I will take all your advice and I agree it is about the balance and what we want in life.

From what I understanding, Chinese is only a tiny 0.8% of the UK's population (2009) and white is 87.5%, which tell you why there is no Chinese MP in the parliament. Nearly 80% out of 0.8% Chinese are those who work in the restaurent/takeaway and they never interested in politics. Remaining is professional like lawyers, doctors and engineers. I do not think getting into politics is one of the migrant main objectives; instead jobs prosperity and getting experience are the main reasons.

Chinese population in M'sia is 23.7%, I am not sure when a Chinese can become Prime Minister? I remember Chinese & Indian played a big part to gain independent in 1957.

The older generation might suffer racism abroad in the past but things have changed now thanks to the influence of rising China, in big cities like London, Birmingham and Manchester, 0.5 million people turned out in London alone in 2011 to celebrate the Chinese new year, the atmosphere is just breathtaking.

If you walk on the street of London or New York they do not and will not understand you about Malaysian Chinese, they call you Chinese (from China). From the world point of view, they see M’sia like Indonesia, you wasting your time to explain why M’sian Chinese instead just tell them you are Chinese, for the world, for M’sia policy, they regard M’sia as their (Bumi) land, Chinese belong to China.

However, don’t get this wrong, a lot of my M’sian friends including myself still care and love about M’sia. I went to stadium to watch and support Lee Chong Wei play All England Badminton live in 2009, 2010 & 2011. I always say good things about M’sia to my white colleagues.

Working overseas does not mean we do not patriotism, we just choose different type of life style which suits us and explore the world. However, those who stay and work in M’sia does not mean he/she love the country, maybe he/she has no option to choose different type of life style.

This is purely my opinion; you may or may not need to agree with me.

quite true...
No perfect country in this world, politic is only a small portion of it
Malaysia, a very good country indeed, good climate, no natural disaster, good food, lots of greenery..etc
sometimes we cannot be too greedy, if we look back, there are still many people in this world suffering.
IMHO, if you are born clever / intelligent, it is god-gifted, try to help those poor & miserable people around us in whatever way, if all the smart Chineses leave this country, who fight for the rights and benefits of those minority (low income) group? I read newspaper (Chinese) everyday, many needs help, especially for matters dealing with gomen departments / authorities, we shd help if we can

dun simply leave Malaysia, izit that bad? smile.gif
Be fair to this country as well, Malaysian Chinese are so "useful & wanted'' by foreign countries because of master in "languages" and cheap labor cost, isn't it lucky to have educational foundation in bolehland?
I respect those who migrate or work overseas, but I hate & look down (sorry to use this word) those people who have left this country for whatever reason but keep condemning the country in all aspects
I have an old colleague who work in Singapore for 18 years but still hold Malaysia citizenship, never ever I heard a single good word bout Malaysia out of his mouth, seems like bolehland is a hell to him, really loss of face doh.gif

Thanks to lch78, lucerne, terzam, Bobby C and kochin. You guys seem more like my senior and talk more sence. Yes back to topic (money), as a junior and property invester I would like to share my property experience with you. lch78, thanks for your advice but I already invested 3 properties in M'sia, one unit at the Zest puchong (bought in 2009), 1 shop and 1 house in Negeri Sembilan and 4 properties in UK. My profolio worth just over $5m ringgit, not a lot but I am only 33 still a long way to go yet.

From my humble opinion, I think Msia property (new built) is at peak now and cannot invest any longer, however the West is opposite. I just reserved 2 units from this developer,

During the UK crisis in 2008, a lot of developers went burst and this developer bought and took over their sites and projects at auction/bargain price, banks (RBS, Halifax) at that time were too busy to get rid of those abandon projects and didnt bother about the selling price. I met this developer boss and the sale manager face to face, they are genuine successful investor/developer.

Let me know only if you are interested, I can give you more information. vanillasky91@yahoo.co.uk.
Thanks.

p/s: UFO-ET, Be fair to this country as well, Malaysian Chinese are so "useful & wanted'' by foreign countries because of master in "languages" and cheap labor cost, isn't it lucky to have educational foundation in bolehland?

To reply UFO-ET: Not sure the furthest country you travel is either S'pore or China? If I am not wrong as your concept about ("useful & wanted'' by foreign countries because of master in "languages" and cheap labor cost) is completely wrong, you can try to speak your m'sian english (la la la) in UK and see if UK people will talk to you back, let alone offer you any job. My salary included overtime is more than my British born white director by the way. Maybe you think about your kampung friends who 'jump aeroplane' in UK who work in restaurent but sorry, there are many british white who are unemployed at the moment why dont they get rid of us (msian chinese professional in UK) and employ their people? Maybe they think Msian Chinese are more handsome? Tell you one thing, there are a lot of intelligent, well educated Msia chinese who live and work in UK not because of "wanted or cheap labour", we have many choices but we choose to live and work here because we enjoy the freedom here, job satisfaction and do things we always wanted to do. (things like watch live snooker, live badminton, live MU VS AC Milan football match, free to fly to any europe country during weekend), I did all these at the age of 33, I am happy and enjoy my achievement so far. Sorry UFO-ET, I don't blame you because what I see and learn is different from you. I just have too many options in my life, thats all.
