after did some review.. this phone should be high recommendation for those who budget below RM1k..

before this.. i would say LG Optimus One.. with price and it specs.. and now.. galaxy ace grab the title.. best spec for phone below RM1k..

i also do some comparison with other mid-end phone where those price range RM1k - RM1.5k.. some of them get beaten by this Galaxy Ace in term of specs..

a simple review on behalf on my friend who bought the Galaxy Ace from mikecmy just now at Sunway Pyramid. Me and him compared the Galaxy Ace with his previous phone, the HTC Wildfire.

1. The phone feels so smooth! unlike the Touchwiz 3.0 at Samsung Galaxy S this is nearing the smoothness of iphone 3GS on OS4.2.1!
2. The battery lasted quite awhile too. We downloaded countless apps, try to view several vids on Rockplayer, hearing some songs, watch youtube vids and yet after 3~4 hours only the battery goes to 5% from 20% i think, which is quite an improvement compared to his old HTC Wildfire.
3. The screen. Not much comment on it but it's quite comparable to Iphone 3GS to me; the size and vividness of the screen.
4. It's running on Android 2.2.1
5. Samsung's Task Manager is quite intelligent, we don't feel the need of Advanced Task Killer anymore. lol.
6. The sound is quite loud, but one thing that i don't fancy is the placement of the speaker which is at the back of the phone.
7. The video player doesn't play XVID format, hence we downloaded Rockplayer to counter this. Also, HD video can't be played, laggy at 0.5fps.
8. Build quality is quite solid, and the phone is heavier compared to Galaxy S, in which to me feels like it's worth paying for the phone's price.
8. The camera pic is better than HTC Wildfire too, though both are 5mpx shooter. Maybe Samsung processes the pictures differently than HTC or maybe the lens is better than HTC's.
9. About the memory, yeah, it's lower than an Optimus One, but with its intelligent task killer and faster proc @ 800mhz, we don't feel the downside of it.....yet.
10. Samsung's Touchwiz customization isn't much compared to HTC's Sense like widgets and menu shortcuts in which my friend initially complained, but he said it's nothing to be worry about.

Overall for a low-mid end Android, i'd recommend this Samsung Galaxy Ace to anyone who is interested buying it smile.gif

That's all for now I guess. The seller (mikecmy) is quite good too, chatted with us although his gf is waiting for so long already at another place. lol. I recommend buying from him biggrin.gif

Can't comment much about the phone yet, just using it right now .
It's damn light weigh (I feel this way, I don't know why xD)!
Browsing is awesome but not the best.
the speed is acceptable, quite fast actually.

I try to give a full review soon if got time. laugh.gif

I got my unit yesterday from jason/moon. all the way from klang to kepong to grab the last black unit of the day biggrin.gif

very satisfied with the phone. I got this ace and LG O1 in hand now.
I love both of them, but at some part I love the Ace a little more.

Ace pro's:
like the camera(5MP with flash),
the screen size(3.5"),
sound/audio reproduction,
android 2.2.1 out of the box,

con's:
speaker placement at the back( I prefer at the front like LG O1),
278MB ram (should make it 512MB min much like LG O1),
shining crome part at the side of the phone, looks cheap and fingerprint magnet( I prefer the crome part at LG O1),
lack of full flash 10 on browser,
old version of google aps out of the box, Market, Map all old version (can be upgraded through market),

Hello? U know that after diving the ram for OS and Adreno Graphic itself, 278MB of ram is sufficient already. I believe u haven't realize Xperia X10 has only 384MB of RAM on board. What happen when u divided the RAM for OS and Graphic as well as the Default apps like TimeScape UI?

Hi. Do you realize why the phone does not support full flash10 out of the box despite having froyo installed?
I am using this ace phone right now. Running normal task already eat 75% of the ram. If full flash browser installed I bet it will easily reach 99% and the system will lag as hell.
