Hi, I'm new to this thread and I'm looking for porcelain floor tiles for my kids' bedroom. My kids are sensitive to toxic material and I've been visiting shops in KL and even some manufacturers showroom but most of the ppl can't really answer my questions. I wanted to see some technical specs or data for the material used and NO ONE was able to show me hahaha.

From my research there are some ceramic tiles that contain lead, mostly used for coloring. And if not lead maybe other kinds of heavy metal. I understand some compound are safer than the others and none are absolutely toxic free though porcelain tiles are considered very good because they don't emit VOCs (Volatile Organic Compound).

Also I read that some may contain Asbestos, especially those from China. Not all but some.

A few local brands that I quite like albeit a bit more expensive are Feruni and MML.

Does anyone have any comment or information regarding the material used in the tiles? I've checked their websites, brochures but can't really find it. I plan to go to MML showroom this weekend hopefully they have some answers for me but if anyone here have any information or if you know of any brands that are toxic free, do let me know.

Cheers!

Trust me, you won't find the answer. Technical specs is almost non existent in Malaysia for tiles. Brand like MML and Feruni is a safe bet

Hahaha, yup. that's the impression I'm getting too. I'm going to pay MML show unit a visit to try my luck anyway since I want to look at more of their selections haha. Thanks for your feedback smile.gif

If your child are sensitive, shall check what is he sensitive about, not just keep on getting "clean" stuffs for him as this is sweeping the problem under the carpet.
Using air cond for prolong period of time, eating rubbish from fast food restaurants are the main cause.
If you really worry, just get marble and call it the day.

hahaha let's hope I have the budget for that. We know what he is sensitive to. That's why we are trying to avoid that. He is already on very strict diet. That's why we are very cautious of everything we use and eat haha.

Is there a grout or adhesive for installing the tiles that are toxic free? or at least less toxic? or is that also too much to ask for in Malaysia hahaha. Any recommendations?
