hacking rm 0.80 per sqf including throwing away the hacked tiles laying tiles rm 3.00 per sqf, floor or wall is the same is this below market or reasonable? the price is from a sarawakian tiler who is working with a tiles manufacturer and this is his second job with a friend... im abit skeptical... so trying to find out first... will see how is workmanship in the jobs he did... |

I was quoted rm 5.50 for laying tiles, and rm 2.50 for hacking till concrete slab. For tiles laying, they use tiles adhesive only, without cement which is only for plastering.. is this price ok? Toilet waterproofing is rm 800 per toilet and the staircase is calculated as a set, rm 2300. Total damage for my house is abt 29k covering 3000sqf, floor and wall... including backyard n car park...

Also, during my shopping for tiles, venus and alpha seems to be on a lower side in terms of pricing. Are they good? I intend to use 800mm x 800mm as living room floor tiles... my concern is, are these tiles of this size get popped up easily? The tiling sifu said he uses purely tiles adhesive to lay tile and he can guarantee no pop-up will happen in the future and he mentions also hacking till slab and replastering with his method helps also in this.. true???

QUOTE(supersound @ Apr 21 2014, 11:02 AM) rm800 are kind of expensive. I did notice those two-part mix costs somewhere ard 200... but seriously I dunno where to get cheaper quote coz my requirements are juz basically very easy. I need the workers to be there everyday. Initially I engaged one sarawakian group to replace my tiles broken during reno... considered quite a lot as all the metal door frames were removed n thus e floor tiles damaged. N some other broken ones too... Wetworks guy didnt want to do. Got a few Chinese sifus to quote also dun1 to do or charged skyhigh. In the end, I selected this guy to do for these small job covering abt 600sqf (tiles replacing as well as whole tiles chg for kitchen n store) for rm 2.5k and this is where e nightmare started. Using low quality material but still charge rm5.5 excluding hacking. Consider this as day light robbery. Anyway to cut the story short, the tiles replaced affect the tiles nearby due to his poor workmanship and also developer tiles were laid 2 yrs back so the color and size are different. This guy also comes once in a while, sometime 2 ppl, some time 3.. some time even 1. Some time never come at all or work half day. Now for a month still cannot finish the job. I f'ed him upside down. I did ask him before how much to hack all n redo whole hse, he said 14k including waterproofing. Price is definitely cheap but I definitely wont let him to do. What should be e reasonable price? My price I have as follows: Lay tiles: RM 5.50 psf (living / dining / room downstairs all 800mm x 800mm, upstairs 600mm x 600mm, the rest all 300mm x 600mm) Hacking: RM 2.50 Waterproofing: RM 800 each, 3 layers, wall up to 500mm Skirting: RM 3.50 per foot run |

QUOTE(supersound @ Apr 23 2014, 08:59 AM) Hacking also rm2.50 per sqft? Ya, actually around 40cm, but I actually wanted to ask him to do up to 60cm but he said cannot coz material may not be enough so at most 50cm unless I top up... LoL!Sometimes I hate them when separating all the cost If up to 50cm then I guess better you take the offer of rm800, I thought they only lay on the floor only Anyway, hacking is RM 2.50 but I want to ask him to reduce to RM 2.00. |

Some questions,
Are 32" (800mm x 800mm) tiles prone to pop up? I managed to find a shop that sells local tiles very competitively. I need to confirm my tiles selection tomorrow as I have been told tiles price will increase by May 2014 - I wonder how true. |
