QUOTE(earlgrey77 @ Jul 18 2021, 09:46 PM) Dear all, I wish to ask for some guidance on tiles here. I am planning to start some renovation, first time and I realized that there is quite a number of tiles brands. May I know which brand would you recommend - mid-range will do. I took note of those brands that have been recommended in the earlier posts. The first selection of tile is usually design, colours and price. Brands are usually not a priority.

QUOTE(kucingfight @ Aug 7 2021, 12:11 PM) so my living area tiles came popping out after 10yr. (known issue of cost cutting sub con job) . of all time during EMCO, had to bear with it while removing broken/tilted tiles by myself. Juz had an indon worker came to have a look on it. better to redo the whole hall. according to him, the 'old' glue mixture need to be chiseled out first and then new cement layer will be poured over before any tiling job. area is around 500sq ft, a)can estimate of cost for this job? excluding tile and installing tile job b)any reliable online website to check estimate pricing of tile? c) i did ask if i opt for SPC flooring, the 'old' glue still need to be removed then only new cement layering job can be done. correct? so in a way, prep cost for tile and SPC is the same.. thank you The labour now should be average 3 to 5 psf. Budget 1 : 1. Your existing tiles 2x2 is about 10+ per pc. If promo, can buy less than 10. China brands many promo in tile shops. Always remove old and lay new but do understand it can never be everything. Workers will remove as much possible.

QUOTE(kucingfight @ Aug 12 2021, 05:53 PM) I was thinking of another option of doing spc flooring. Is it possible to juz remove the tiles and do cement layer leveling ( without hacking off the old glue)? Will it bond or cause other problems in future? Such suggestion will increase the height of the affected flooring and create a step down to other areas not affected. Certain doors need to be change or reduce the length to accomodate the new floor height. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Aug 12 2021, 06:41 PM

QUOTE(matsheikh @ Oct 11 2021, 02:38 PM) Hi I have a question. Dont know if this is even logical or possible. If existing bathroom tiles are still in good condition but i want to replace them because want to change color / type, is it advisable to hack the existing tiles first or can straight install new tiles on it? Since you intend to change, then hack and redo waterproofing together, if is a highrise or on 1st floor terrace. You dont want a leaking problem later and need to redo waterproofing.

QUOTE(CrayonsEater @ Nov 4 2022, 11:57 AM) Dear all sifu, what can be done on the below to cover the tiles edges and prevent water from water sipping? I do not intend to do retiling. Use silicone sealant. Remove as much possible the grout cement b4 injecting the silicone Another method is using tile transparent protecting ccrylic coating.

QUOTE(hihihehe @ Dec 6 2022, 10:23 PM) anyone use tiles on top of concrete kitchen top? does the grouting annoys you? my contractor recommended me this instead of quartz top for wet kitchen to save some money Is nice to havd a seamless piece. But for tiles ...... Pro 1. Cheap 2. Can replace individual piece, if cracked Cons ... 1 Cleaning the grout 2. Poor workmanship can csuse tiles to dislodge.
