Guyss..

I have 1 problem..my tiles at my condo has "POP" out..
a few have been taken out to ease the pressure 1 another..
I'm planning to change to Laminated flooring / Timber slab...
is there any difference?
Is it ok..to use at kitchen area as well?

Thanks

i just got my keys not long ago, now under reno, and my tiles on my living room & dry kitchen pop up as well... i asked like 10 people doing reno or with reno experience, all come back with the same result: no choice but change all of them, otherwise u won't know when will other tiles pop up as well in future, all of them say there is air inside already, sooner or later those other tiles will pop up as well.

if u laminate the floor with laminate flooring/vinyl flooring, and the tiles really pop up again, then you got bigger problem next time

yess..thats the thing...
When I've been handed the keys 3yrs ago...my tiles color were not even and not same color..
i have asked the developer to change..and it works fine..
until recently...a few "POP" suddenly when I came back from office.... cry.gif
thats why..I decided to change ALL..
but massive works to be done, coz I have kitchen cabinet, TV cabinet, sofas and etc etc...
I need to move them out temporary...for the tiles work..

my question would be...
will be ok..if I change the timber slab/laminated flooring vs tiles..on my kitchen area?
is it ok for that?
need opinion....

i did research and asked around about laminate flooring too and decided to use vinyl floor for my bedrooms and previously planning to put vinyl on dry kitchen too, but the dry kitchen tiles comes up when my contractor doing the living room tiles, so now got no choice but to change the kitchen tiles as well.

laminate floor will need extra care compared to tiles, have to clean off water/sauces drops on the floor almost immediately otherwise they may sink into the laminate floor, i know there are alot of "water proof" laminate floor out there but the price is almost 2/3 times compared to normal laminate floor, and they are all made of wood, which type of wood is not afraid of water? hmm.gif

vinyl floor is made of something like plastic? (not expert so not sure the name of those material xD) but atleast they are 100% water proof, and vinyl floor is cheaper too..

but no matter what, you still have to remove the tiles to be safe, and if i remember correctly, you cant install laminate floor directly on the rough surface, have to do some touch up first, that will be another extra cost.

That sucks, man. I think relatives are the last to go to for recommendation, for some reason always turns out terrible. Then you can't scold too much too because have to take into consideration your relatives.

*
yeah.. i only complaint once cause he messed up the paint colour (unacceptable for me), and he doesn't want to repaint for me, so i talked to my relative, he managed to get the guy come back to repaint for me, but i heard after that they have some argument with the guy over this matter.

feeling bad though, they have been friend for quite sometime, it seems like i destroy their relationship sad.gif

exactly!

relatives are usually the last pick unless super duper cheap
*
the price he gave us is really super duper cheap, and some minor thing he done it for free, so I din't complain much. But he messed up the colour himself, admitted it's his fault, and he doesn't want to fix it, which got me really angry vmad.gif vmad.gif

the only good thing i can think of is, he managed to finish the job on time, workmanship wise shakehead.gif
