What causes tiles to get detached from the wall? The tiles at my toilet (the side walls) are becoming loose, barely holding on to the wall.

poor workmanship.
the usual suspect :
1. there's paint on the wall and the fella just try to bond cement to the wall without removing the pain or the person remove the paint but only a bit.
2. not enough tile adhesive added to the cement

Nothing major, I suspect? Placed my hands on the tiles, does not seem to be wet - this should rule out plumbing issues
