Photography HELP: My lens wont focus, in live view mode

hi all,
im new in photography and using nikon d3100 with 55-200mm lens but i realised earlier that the lens wont focus in live view mode but if i switch it back to view finder then it is ok. is this normal and if it is not, what shud i do next as the lens is out of warranty?  appreciate your kind advice. thanks a lot  |
