i asked a mechanic shop outside n he say to change windscreen around RM1200...not RM1200 0f premium
how much u insured yours?

I just replaced my 2007 ViosE cracked windscreen at Section19 PJ.
Drove there around 10am, the windscreen was replaced and collected the car by 2pm.
Since I insured the windscreen with MSIG at the same branch, they did the paperwork internally.

I insured for RM1600 (1000 windscreen 600 tint). However, my tint did not come with the car but I did it outside, else they would have retint for me as well (and claim accordingly).

Also the tint can only be done 1 week after windscreen change to let the glue dry. So after 1 week, I went to V-kool HQ down the road but the price has increased since 2007 from RM600 to RM800 for the front windscreen alone !

After paying for it, submitted the claim for RM600 to MSIG at Section19 and waiting for refund via cheque to be sent.

note- insurance premium is 15% of the windscreen/tint coverage hence every year I pay RM240 extra. Am considering to raise this coverage to RM1800 (since I know the Vkool tint is now RM800) else may choose a different tint that cost less in case the windscreen cracks again. Or just take the risk of insuring it lower and pay the difference should the inevitable happens. whistling.gif

i also thinking about secondhand Vios as i couldn't afford to buy new vios.

But it is good to buy second Vios? what should i check  if i go to see the car?

How i want to know the car is in good condition and the seller did not bluff or hiding smthing from me?

buying 2nd hand car is higher risk hence need to set aside even more 'emergency' cash.
This risk may be reduced if you

a. are knowledgeable about cars or have someone (e.g. mechanic friend) to check for you
b. target cars with cheaper spare parts
c. dun buy too old as every car parts deteriorate with age and usage

I just traded in my 2003 ViosG for 42K. it's actually an over-trade by TopMark for buying a new Prius from UMW
The highest offer i got from 2nd hand car dealers was 38K but they will advertise it for 48K, perhaps sell 45-46K .. just to share their margins as an example for you to chase after direct sellers as an option.

Meanwhile, back to your finance, the recommended benchmark for urban dwellers in Malaysia would be 1-year gross salary. Hence if you earn 2K monthly, try to get a car around 24K.

get Saga FLX then..save fuel and cheaper

If u want cheaper, second hand saga(LMST) or those old skool Saga using Magma engine is very good on FC. You can get within RM8k-RM10k for 2004 year old car.
Mizox,

a 2008 PROTON SAGA BLM 1.3 (A) M-LINE will cost around your yearly salary .. and vampire chicken (LOL !) is right,
brand new top of the range Saga FLX under RM45K would still be a much safer choice than a new Vios, financially for you.
