i believe he/she must've got turned off by preacher who preach mostly out of their own experience/opinion and not from the word of God.

ayam found a few churches today, the sermon is 98% experience/oppinion, 2% word of God(e.g teaching from the bible)

QUOTE(Deadlocks @ Nov 18 2011, 05:07 AM)
That is because it takes BOTH the Word of God and spiritual experience to UNDERSTAND the Word of God.
*
how sure are you that experience/oppinion of the particular person is from the word of God?

usually when this type of shurch practice this method, i dont see they have any problem as long they have bible class regularly, which usually makes a person busy to serve the church? idk.... quite a number of friends who attend big/mega churches are quite busy with their activities

You can't be sure of a personal's experience, but you certainly can be sure it does not come solely from reading the Book without experiencing in it Spirit, which is usually cultivated in REAL LIFE.

That is why I detest these denominations bullshit.

There are only 2 denominations:

Either you are with Him, or against Him.

but there are many ways to worship or to serve Him. thats where other chirstians begins to judges another's way of believing in Him. but one's must have the wisdom to discernment whether the preacher is speaking the truth out from the bible. everything should be refer to the bible, where without it, no Christians will exist today. if the sermon is not in parallel with the word of God... then you know the drill icon_idea.gif

oh yeah.and 1 more thing. anyone heard of Bethel Church in taman melati, setapak?

Seek your heart, and be honest!..(?)
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? - Jeremiah 17:9
... why not seek Jesus' heart and learn of His characters instead a human one of whom we know not of the depth of its wickedness?

here is what the role of bible/scripture is for:
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness - 2 Timothy 3:16
... to teach, to correct and to instruct. can my life experience teach you more than the living water? absolutely no.

what is the role of God's Spirit?
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me - John 15:26

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you - John 14:26
... the Spirit doesn't edify itself but Christ, so how does the Spirit teaches if not by the word of God?

the word of God is another title of Jesus Christ..
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. - Revelation 19:13
Jesus Christ is the creator God, of whom the Father created everything through His Son...
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. - John 1:1
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. - John 1:3

Creator God = Word of God = Emmanuel

so, this is how important the word of God/bible/scripture is.. because it's not just a "book"

When I said no preaching I am Not hinting at any particular denomination.. Had experience attending mass of various denominations all have the same set of sequence of worship/hymn session. What I am looking for is more of wholesome activities where I can participate and share not only spiritually and worldly.

Thanks

Hi, have you tried joining the Home Cell/Young Adults/Youth Cell before? There are other types of Cell as well. It's basically a group that gathers in suitable age range where they have meetings to share the Word, activities and also growing in Christ together.
Maybe this will suit you

Since Christmas is approaching to mark the birthday of Christ, will we have any gathering? I'm going to celebrate Christmas away from my family for 3 years consecutively sad.gif

It is boring la weh, perhaps we could organize a gathering especially for those that are away from their love ones biggrin.gif
