me owner as well

previously got 2 BSOD episodes saying driver bla bla bla... always happen if left the notebook for a long time. probably the power management thingy.

anyway, just updated all the necessary drivers today... will see how it goes.

mainly use 5750G for video editing and normal office work plus Unreal Tournament, Modern Warfare 2 and Angry Bird. So far so good!

add me into the owner list as well!

i guess the only thing i hate about the laptop other than the sandy bridge issue is the direction keys, gosh.. they're freaking small! and i'm not sure for others but i seem to have problems passing the ball with the direction keys in fifa, you'll need to let go of the keys and pass at the instance without holding down the directions.. anyone else playing fifa 11 on 5750g experience this same thing as well? or do you have any advice?
*
Okay!
Yeah, compare to other laptop, the arrow keys are quite small.

QUOTE(jkwanness @ Feb 24 2011, 07:17 PM)
5750g owner reporting in...

So far having no problems with BSOD... but having problems with COD4 punkbuster restricted drivers... Though this may be more of a software problem...

I would like to point out that I hate NVIDIA Optimus.... I don't get to set my graphic settings High in certain games, as they detect only Intel GPU present...

And NV Optimus doesn't allow for linux direct rendering... I'd rather buy laptops without optimus from nowonwards...

Do you guys think its better to swap motherboard when its available?
*
Added u to the owner list.

QUOTE(djzen @ Feb 24 2011, 07:31 PM)
I get BSOD with some games only - NFS hot pursuit and when I on back from sleep mode. So maybe you havent triggered BSOD yet. Care to test? Thanks..
*
When u play NFS HP will u experience tree blurr out or crash?

QUOTE(faezfahmi618 @ Feb 27 2011, 03:32 AM)
hey guys can i return my 5750g and ask 4 refund coz i want buy n53sn..
*
Yes.

QUOTE(tonyvyp @ Feb 27 2011, 07:57 AM)
u'll have to go bak to the shop & ask them...to my understanding, acer stated that its up to the retailer whether they wanna giv a full refund
*
Impossible since the problem is global, not the retailer's choice also.

QUOTE(NickyHeat @ Feb 27 2011, 08:02 AM)
So,can the graphic card on 5750g be upgraded? details please guys
*
If u mean like upgrading to GTX 480m or HD6850, nope.

Nope, I contacted HighPoint at LYP when I go and fix my keyboard.
They called me to call HighPoint since they are not given any instructions yet.
Still lazy to call now.sweat.gif
But the guy told me if want to refund better refund like 1 month earlier, don't last minute refund.
hmm.gif
He said approximately 2 weeks to get the refund and this case happens for the first time in their history so cannot confirm about this.
If refund probably get Asus N series, but have to think first since need to top up and WAIT~~
ZZzz
Btw, before this I complaint about the keyboard that some keys have to click twice to reveal the words, the problem is the setting not the keyboard.
The technician tested for me after changing it and still occurs, after that only realised it is the language bar located at the right bottom option at the desktop.
sweat.gif
Anyhow I got a new keyboard and am satisfied with their service.

i'll definitely go for option 1...love my super fast & smooth lappy now...juz now only using my frend's core 2 duo 1.8GHz, startup so freaking slow!!
*
That's because of ur HDD is still containing little programmes and files.

I am planning to get 5750G, but i am worried about the heat issues. I has got only  1 fan?
Scared the laptop get spoilt fast becoz of high temp.

Then i read about Acer TimelineX 3820TG http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1606856 saying it has got 2 fans and good heat management.

because its got a lower price, i am leaning towards it rather than wait for asus n53sn.

Also wondering about heat for the asus n53sn.

Sifu's out there any thoughts?
*
Heat problems on 2nd gen i7 is better than previous about 10 degree celcius.
Idle is around 40-50 degree celcius only while gaming at most is 80+ without cooler.
Different of N53SN is it is using GT550M which is clocked higher than GT540M of 5750G and their speakers and not forgetting their built.
If u cant stand the small screen of gaming u better dun get 3820TG, either 5750G and N53SN is good, it all depends on ur budget.

lazy install antivirus coz got too much cracks & keygen liao, if install then all hav to add to exclusion list one by one, or else kena sapu kao kao  sweat.gif  sweat.gif
*
I'm guessing the 300GB contains many movies and songs.

QUOTE(jusjus88 @ Mar 9 2011, 05:32 PM)
Is 80 degree celsius acceptable for the GPU? I recalled having a not-so-pleasant experience of cooking my pair of hands due to the overheating GPU.
*
It's considered as normal temperature for this kind of GPU, but to protect ur laptop better use cooler when gaming.

QUOTE(gabrieltey @ Mar 9 2011, 06:51 PM)
budget not really an issue. prefer a light and portable one. but i guess if light and portable mostly wont have such good specs.

So N53N GPU is better than 5750g with better speakers and better build but MORE EXPENSIVE than 5750g by about RM600. I talked to dealer today, now new 5750g comes with 2GB dedicatied for GPU. Previously was 1GB.....
He said now 5750g deal is VERY attractive.
*
Yeap, u're right. The new 5750G also has bluetooth compared to the ones most of us here are using.

+1 I'm using MSE also.

QUOTE(gabrieltey @ Mar 9 2011, 07:32 PM)
i think small different in perfomance, not that significant between GT550m and GT540M right?
*
Not much between 540 and 550 but huge difference when compared 555.

hey Good_day. What option will u choose?
im divided between swapping the lappy with the new one and with changing the mobo.lol

i will call acer highpoint in a few hrs.just want to know what is the procedure and how long will it takes as i can't be without my lappy atm.

Added on March 17, 2011, 2:28 pmI've called Acer Highpoint, they say for mobo replacement it will takes 1 working day.
For the swap option it will takes 3-4 working days and you will have to return ur old laptop for inspection and verification.
Both shipment shud be around in 1-2 weeks time.

**This is according to the person that is answering my call.
*
Hey bro, sorry for the late reply.
I'm considering all 3 options, but most probably swap or change motherboard. Even though not really satisfied fully like sometimes crash when playing games maybe swapping or changing motherboard can help it. U mean after 1-2 weeks only can do the motherboard replacement?
