browse a few thread taking about Forte here in lowyet.net, found some funny ppl saying funny stuff

1) H.City using 10x better plastic than Forte -- what a crab, if you thing this is a correct statement, please prove it, not just saja saja saying.

2) H.City smooth driving until 170km/h, i never try the NHC so i have no comment, but the 1st gen IDSI city, i drove 140 km/h edi feel the shake. Maybe i should try up this superb car...as someone claim that good thing doesn't sell at cheap price. But sorry i would have to said, in business point of view, if i could sell at higher price and there still high demand, why i would want to sell at low price....please open your eye and your mind, biz world is like that. who don wanna max the profit. Overprice mean overprice, don try to find excuse to make yourself feel more happy by saying u pay premium coz u get a high quality product. Sorry but i have to say that your are cheating yourself.

We don talk about H.City VS Forte, we try to take the a look at Peugeot 308 Vti (non turbo) 99,888, Honda Jess 109,800 and H.City 90,480. The spec and quality beat these 2 cars a very far way, even the Civic 1.8 (beside the size as 1 is hatch and 1 is sedan)

3) the very 1st time i ever heard AirBag is useless for those who fasten the seatbelt and only for those hero that don like to fasten seatbelt -- what a crab again, doesn't he know the Airbag will not pop-up if you didn't fasten your seatbelt?

4) Some fortune which can tell after 3-5 years, the Forte resell value left only 30k or even less...some one request for 6D...me 4D enough la...Resell value resell value...if u really concern about resell value, go buy saga will do, and put ur $ on property. I still remember a vios owner back in year 2010, would like to
sell his 2003 vios, the agent wanna makan his car (trade in for forte) RM44k, he say is ridiculous low....how much he expect wow a 7 years old car??? Some more he said he post up for 2-3 months still cannot get a buyer at the price he want...he tot so many stupid buyer out there.

5) mindset mindset mindset....if we won change, we will continue paying a very high price to those monopoly H & T overprice car...pls la see the global review not the person who only own his lovely H & T car. I call them either Fanboy or Follower, there are 100% bias.

Sorry for my long wind nagging here. My purpose here is to know more about this beauty, as i'm going to get 1 for my wife should be the 2.0 SX

Peugeot 308 worth it meh? I feel that when comes to maintenance, need to fork out more $$..
Inspira is worth while compare to buttseck Lancer..
*
who told you the maintenance for Pug 308 is high...

So far after 50k+ 2 years of owning

2.5k 1st inspection FOC
10k service - RM260 (Free labour)
20k service - RM400 (using Petronas Full Sync - this is expensive)
30k service - RM670 (using Amsoil Full Sync + change ATF oil around RM300 (is my own choice to change at this stage, as per manual you only need to change at 60k, but i choose to change at 30k for better protection to my gear box, i might do the same for my wife's new forte 2.0)
40k service - RM1000 (using Amsoil Full Sync + break oil change + iridium denso RM170 + K&N Filter RM240) if my choice to upgrade the K&N filter as well
50k service - RM370 (using Amsoil Full Sync)

if you see my figure and compare the chart in the 1st page, is almost the same. except i change the ATF on 30k and upgrade the spark plug and k&n filter on 40k instead of using the stock.

can we use full syn ATF oil too??

i believe you can, and will be better too.

btw, why forte and pug have relatively lower maintenance is due to 10k interval. you save lots of labour charge is compare to 5k interval.

the rest should be the same, like those engine oil price is almost the same across the brand of the car you drive

Yupp..i was about to say the same...

Added on April 27, 2011, 11:31 amIMO, whether it is CKD or CBU..all parts used & manufacturing processes are surely been endorsed by the Peugeot itself. It just that the main purpose for CKDing the car is to obtain cheaper manufacturing & selling cost..right?

If my memory still serves me right, not all Pug under Nasim are CKD (ie 207, 308, 407 are CKD Pug), some of the CBU Pug models under it stable are 3008 & 5008. & as far as 308THP, 3008 & 5008 are concern, all used the same engine regardless CKD/CBU status. So in this case, it has nothing to do with the originality
*
yup you are right...even the Forte is under the same situation, do you call ur so called CKD Forte non-original?

basically they are the same

You know how old KIA is???
That's 67 years. Count it. It's only the last 2 years KIA finally made significant impact in overseas market with the Forte...mainly thanks to the Audi Designer. Too bad you only own Proton's for the last 13 years...(why you keep buying Proton if you hate it so much??, if you can afford 20k sound system, surely a Forte is not a problem for you!!!  whistling.gif ) If you have own any other cars, you'll realized all cars have problems. And yeah, i have owned a KIA before.  whistling.gif
*
bro you should read more about kia in Wiki la http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kia_Motors

no doubt kia founded in 1944 but that time only doing steel tubing and bicycle parts by hand,

The company opened its first integrated automotive assembly plant in 1973, that is for assembly only, not building car also (just like Naza), no double they can learn how to assembly a car but not building/manufacture a car.

At 1986, they partnership with ford and produce severer Mazda (Ford own Mazda) and Ford car. Just like porton at 1985 partnership with mitsu and produce saga, iswara and wira. The so called 90% local manufacturer WAJA onli launch in late 90s.

if not mistaken, they only start building their own car in 90s but got bankruptcy due to 1997 crisis. They really come from a hard way, not like our proton, being pampered and protected.

I would said, Kia and Proton almost start at the same time, but look at today's stand. Proton still being pampered and protected buy Kia is like 10 years ahead (or maybe more?)

Worst is Proton did not go forward but goes backward to 1985 and doing re-badge again for the Inspira...to boost the sales? to regain reputation? However this move benefit us as consumer to pay less 20-30k in getting this mitsu lancer

Miserably, I have to admit to your points. Both of my wife and myself be the Proton car owner for more than 10 years, I do not feel the pride and glory to the fact of Malaysia producing our nation car, but I only feel the pains of government protectionism:
1. Nation car caused other car brands much expensive by raising the taxes of Proton rivals. Malaysian were suffered with extra burden to the car loan.
2. Government pour in the money (our taxes money!) to help up Proton, which conversely should use the money to develop the country, or use it in such a way to really benefit the people.
3. Seriously impacted Malaysia image as not actualize the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA).

Probably, revoke such protectionism will be the only way to make Proton getting more aggressive and competitive, and make us proud of our nation car.
*
In econ point of view, to have proton is a good move. It reduce the $ flow out by buying product buatan malaysia. Imagine if we do not have P1 and P2, everyone rely on foreign car, how many RM will flow out from the country.

However good move must pair with good product in reasonable price. Frankly speaking, if persona can have something like forte, and sell at 40-50k, who wanna buy a forte. And this is achievable, provided we have a "clearner" gov, say no to "kawan-kawan" biz.

most car like pug308, forte, civic, altis +++ are selling from USD 15k - 22k in most country. thus a good quality persona which on par with forte in RM40-50k is achievable. and i will buy only Proton.

Should get back to topic....
Anyway, we can have a rm65+++ Civic, but then, petrol will be expensive.
Like China, the car price are really cheap, but the fuel price is ~rm3.80/l.... They even need to buy parking lot(correct me if wrong) for their car while we can simply park. Single parking cannot, double park, still cannot, triple park lor..... FOC....
Like you say, if P1 or P2 can come out products that are on par with its segment's price, who still want to buy others?
*
i think u get me wrong, RM65k+ for a civic is not encourage, they still can price a civic > 100k. High tax in other way is good to prevent $ flow out and encourage purchase local product.

my stand point is, we must have a decent / good product so that we as consumer are more happy to buy local car than foreign car. for those rich ppl, they will still buy like there is ppl buying bentley for specialty.

the problem is most consumer here leave no choice, we all pay premium to purchase a standard car (not luxury). most consumer if affordable will try to skip P1 and P2 due to low quality, low qc product. they will rather pay more for piece of mind than spend more time and $ later to fix this fix that.

for me why i choose forte 2.0 and Peugeot 308, mainly due to their safety feature of course the design and spec also into consideration. thus if persona have 5 start rating on safety, with ESP/ECS, 6 airbag, and those ABS++, and price at 60k for this premium version, i'm in

hyundai and kia do very good job in korea, if you go korea, u will see almost 90% of the car on the road are hyundai / kia and they are happy and proud of it.

in fact i love Malaysia, and i would like to be proud of our proton as well (not re-badge inspira), but when?
