I played around with MSI Afterburner to see how the GTX 485m overclocks.

From the stock 575 core/1150 shader/1500 memory to 700 core/1400 shader/1700 memory. Ran Lost Planet 2 DX11 for a couple of times...no crashes seen yet and nice performance gains, making the benchmark rank from C to B. Seems stable and within okay temperatures as well (max 85C). This was not overvolted.

Will try overvolting tomorrow.

EDIT: Voltage controls don't really work...hmm. sweat.gif

SSDs can fit anywhere, both the secondary optical drive and the primary drive area.

And as for the modified drivers, check this post from notebookreview.com. Currently I'm using 270.28, and it works well.

Eurocom isn't a good company to do business with. They have issues with customers and can be good liars. Also, they have sold the 6970m to some people, but found out that they were engineering samples which aren't supposed to be sold to users...shady...

How about HD6970 for NP7280 (clevo x7200)? hmm.gif Is is engineering sample or final product?
*
Even the X7200. Very stupid business practice haha.

QUOTE(carbonytte @ Mar 30 2011, 01:59 PM)
the same thing i saw while reviewing Eurocom's past deals with several NBR forumers. I think one of the forumers even created a thread over how bad their management was.
*
Yeah I read the whole thread during my spare time haha, it was pretty bad. NBR users don't think highly of Eurocom.

I looking for 17" Laptop and if didn't have any backlight for Keyabord is also nevermind . The most important is 3 years warranty that cover all issue and the performance must faster than Alienware MX 17 R3
*
There are two 17" laptops offered by Sager/Clevo. Both of them mentioned above; the Clevo X7200 and the Sager NP8170.

The NP8170 does not have SLI (dual GPU), but currently it is faster than the M17x R3 because the M17x does not have 485M as a config (correct me if I'm wrong here) and the NP8170 can have the 6970m and the GTX 470/485M. However, the M17x has dual GPU solutions.

The X7200 however destroys the M17x R3. Why? It is the only 17" laptop that has desktop processors built in AND dual GPU solution, while running cool. But it is quite heavy...

it seems cubehub/mucro/rjtech also follow suit selling hd6970m
*
They are selling it alright, but as preorders if I'm right. I do not think they will send out incomplete GPUs (engineering samples) out to customers like Eurocom because that is downright stupid.

QUOTE(kahjye @ Mar 30 2011, 03:48 PM)
i wonder how much will the hd6970m cost like...almost like gtx485m?
*
Reportedly it's lower, by a few hundred dollars maybe? The performance is almost on par with the 485m.

Now only Mucro.Asia Selling Sager ?
I saw the post wrote that I able to install another HDD or SSD in the Laptop ?  Actually I not using it for gaming , I just want a more faster Laptop . How is the speaker and the sound card on the laptop compare with Alienware M17X R3 ?

How long the battery on the Sager laptop can last if I not gaming and just doing assignment ?

U have Alienware Laptop before and what happens to it ?
Where can I find Clevo X7200 dealer ?
*
Yes you are able to install a second HDD/SSD to the NP8170. So you have 2 HDD plus a DVD drive. If I am right, you can go as far as having 3 HDDs, if you take the DVD drive out. I do not have the NP8170, but I can say that the sound should be better than the M17x R3 because the NP8170 has a subwoofer, that adds some "ummpph" into the sound.

And also I am wrong about the M17x R3 having two GPUs; I just read that it only has one GPU. So clearly I think the Sager will be the winner, unless you are after nice lights and things.

Battery should about about 3 hours, medium brightness without doing much.

What happened to my Alienware (It's an M17x R2 by the way that has two GPUs)? http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=40140204

And the Clevo x7200 is quite common in many resellers (it is also called Sager 7280).
Mucro sells it here: http://www.mucro.asia/index.php?/Mucro-Sag...-NP7280-S1.html

How about gaming ? Do u purchase extra battery ? I saw some guys saying that Alienware M17X can last quite longer like 5 hours

Actually Clevo x7200 is too much for me who don't play game.

After I survey the price for sager , I saw cubehub selling Sager which didn't preloaded with Windowx 7 and need to add USD 90 for Windows 7 Home Premium ? Should I add USD 90 or I purchase retail pack and install by my self ?

I saw Xoticpc have a quite reasonable price and I thinking about the warranty ? If the Laptop spoiled , I need to send it from here to USA by myself and need to bear the cost for shipping ?
*
Well, the M17x can last longer because they enabled Sandybridge's GPU, and they only have the GTX 460m as an option now. Sager didn't enable this because they know Sandybridge's GPU has driver and compatibility issues. However, you are buying a gaming laptop, and battery life is never really part of the equation. And I did not purchase extra batteries, because seriously, I don't game on batteries. You get half of your performance by using batteries. If I'm doing work or whatever I'm fine with running 3 hours.

You can add Windows 7 by yourself, if you think it's cheaper. This is entirely up to you. I already have a Windows CD before, so I didn't order Windows with my laptop.

And XoticPC, you have to send it to USA with shipping...sorry. They stated this in their website:

"This warranty is only good in the United States of America. Repairs are only done at the US factory. In the unlikely event that you would have to return your computer for warranty repairs when outside the US, you would have to pay for the shipping/handling and insurance to and from the Repair Center.

eh guys im wondering if i use a different power cord with the same plug for my power adapter
will they still work as intended ?
i have several power cord from various household items like kettles and what not that have the same plug that fits in the adapter
reason im doing this is because its better to have a malaysia socket compatible power cord so theres no need for an adapter
*
It works yeah, interchangable. You can do so with other laptops too.

New Clevo models sighted!! rclxms.gif cool.gif

I don't know the difference, probably 17" and 15". But they have switchable graphics with NVIDIA GT 555M, finally!

Well apparently.

But the 555m is pretty good though.

And one slight problem came with my laptop. Read my last post on my NP8150 review for more details sweat.gif.

the SSD short connector wasn't much expected. Thought that these connectors are same throughout different manufacturers (i mean, isn't there SATA-IO which governs everything bout SATA? Surely they should include the connector dimension as well, right?)
*
I don't know, but the Corsair F60 I have did look like it had short connectors...talk about designing rolleyes.gif . I placed my Momentus XT in right now and did fresh install again. Sigh sweat.gif

How to check the hard drive got short connector? Is it cannot fit to laptop connector at all?
what to do? Everyone is busy playing with their new toy. biggrin.gif

I have some cash in my hand and plan to take NP8170 from rjtech.com (barebone system without hard drive and RAM). Others are standard config. biggrin.gif
*
Well, it fits well. But I would assume that the copper/gold connectors of the SSD doesn't really click together. I uploaded a pic of the Corsair just in case. I have another reply from my reseller that this only happens with Corsair drives. They tried a G-skill drive, and works pretty good.

It takes quite awhile for it to pass the initial BIOS read sometimes, then says "Insert Boot Media."

Hahahaha, I'm using the Momentus XT now. Although it is fast during boot time, everything else still runs at 7200RPM speed...

You only appreciate the SSD once you go back to a slower drive. And that is the case for me haha. Ordering a Crucial C300 later today to replace my short-connected Corsair F60.

What do you mean?

Put the SSD in the primary slot lol. It doesn't need a caddy!

Only the secondary drive needs caddy...
