@kahjye

Don't buy a Corsair SSD because it eventually won't work in the new Sager models. Any other one is fine.

Hi Guys,

Need opinions on the below config:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

The whole shebang is 8K++  sweat.gif But I'm looking into this investment for the long-ish-term.

Do the prices for the HDD and SSD make it all right or will I save more if I do it myself by buying locally and self-install. After being away from tech for some time I'm pretty astounded by the improvements.  biggrin.gif

Thanks.

I think it's cheaper if you get the 500GB hybrid at a shop that you can haggle, rather than ordering from Mucro and it's cheaper to install stuff on your own. Other than that, the config should be similar to mine; you won't have regrets in the long run.

So far from my reading, you all have experience dealing with :

mucro.asia - http://www.mucro.asia/
cubehub.asia - http://www.cubehub.asia/
xoticpc - http://www.xoticpc.com/
LPC-Digital - http://www.lpc-digital.com/
R&J Technology - http://www.rjtech.com/

So I guess I will too stick with these choice of reseller ...

I am kinda interested with this display:
- 15.6" FHD 16:9 "Matte Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Anti-Glare Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut (1920x1080)

But so far from the list of reseller choice, only XoticPC is offering this display, did a customize setup :

Sager NP8150-S1 / Clevo P150HM
- 15.6" FHD 16:9 "Matte Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright LED Anti-Glare Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut (1920x1080)
- 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2720QM, 2.2-3.3GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache)
- IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU
- ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD6970 2048MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11
- 8GB DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS)-
- 6X Blue-Ray Read/8X DVDRW Super Multi Combo Drive-
- 750GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA II 300 - 16MB Cache)
- Intel® Ultimate-N 6300 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module
- Smart Li-ion Battery (8-Cell)
- No Operating System Standard - Drivers & Utility Software Only
- 3 Year Labor* 1 Year Parts Warranty Lifetime -24/7 DOMESTIC Based- Toll Free Telephone Tech Support (Labor Warranty through Xotic PC)
Includes FREE Shipping Both Ways for Warranty Repairs

I also add in :

- Extra 1 Sager NP8150 Spare 180Watt AC Adapter
- USB 2.0 Universal Docking Station

Total : USD 2,338.00 x 3.02 = MYR7060.76 (MYR2K more than my original budget dy ... tongue.gif)

There is something on the 3% discount if pay by cash, I wonder if wire transfer is consider paying by cash?

Have not done my check-out yet, so not sure how much to pay for the shipping fee, I remember there is a member order from XoticPC before, how much was the shipping fee then?

What do you guys think?
*
I think you can buy a docking station anywhere, for quite cheap even.

And I ordered from XoticPC before (NP8690). Their wire transfers counts as discounts; I paid using this before. If you're a student, they also give discounts.

Docking stations are docking stations...you can buy any different one and it fits on the USB ports. I currently have 2 docking stations; a Logitech one and the Roccat Apuri.

If you want to check the quality of the screen, read my review in my sig smile.gif. Should be somewhere in the middle...and I can agree that it is a very very beautiful screen; even now as I type, I still find the colour distribution and contrasts to be absolutely perfect. Nice dark/black representation and other colours are crisp & bright. Doesn't reflect light at all (well it is a Matte).

The Clevo P170HM 3D Variant is up for preorder at my reseller's website:

http://www.logicalblueone.com.au/store/454...d-notebook.html

Kinda expensive though...but if anyone's looking for a 3D solution, you can expect the pricing to be similar to the link above.

Is it possible for anyone to guide me after i get the Crucial C300 SSD 128GB?

i dont know how to set up those AHCI or ACHI mode lol..totally newbie in this kind of stuff..
*
Oh that's easy.

After you install your SSD into the slot, power up your laptop.

You will reach the POST stage (the BOOT logo bit). Press F2 to enter Setup. Once you reach there, go to Advance settings (I think, I'm not at my laptop atm); there should be a setting for ACHI or IDE mode.

Yep sure. But I think, the laptop comes in AHCI mode already though; you don't need to change anything; that was the case with mine. But just to be sure, I will help you if needed. Wait until you receive the SSD tongue.gif

okay.

1 more question sir.

the C300 SSD is plug and play right ? for sager laptops.

cause the seller mention there is no 3.5" to 2.5" adapter included ...
*
Just to throw your doubts away, the C300 fits perfectly...so are most SSDs.

I have tried what that backlit video did...but the size of the inverter that converts the voltages to be used on the EL wire, is quite big; I could not fit that in the small compartment of the NP8150.

However, the EL wire runs through well inside, quite possible maybe.
