Hi everyone..

My new DIR615 comes with 7.09 firmware. The option to change the PPPOE mode to Bridging Mode so that I can use my own custom-router is missing. sad.gif

Tried to do away with DIR615 and use PFSense. I've tagged WAN interface with VLAN 500.. But the PFSense's PPPOE Dialler refuses to connect.. I tried to put in the PFSense WAN interface with the MAC address from DIR615's WAN interface (the one stated on the sticker underneath the D-Link) - No go.

The only thing I haven't tried is changing the password for my unifi access - "username@unifi". I've a feeling that the password for "username@unifi" which is hard-coded in the DIR615 is different than the one they emailed me.. Anyone knows how I can verify this? Can't risk changing it in the D-Link, I'd be lockout from the internet then..

Another option - downgrade the firmware to 7.05b. Should I ?

Even another option - junk it for a different router.. A bit pricey but am willing to consider.. Any recommendations?

Thank you guys!

I just found that the newer firmware 7.09, got both admin and operator account.

Actually what is the difference between admin account and operator account.

Admin account still can access certain features and changing it, although far less.
Anyway to discover the 'operator' password ?

I got the config.bin, tried to use the routerpassview but it didn't work on the firmware 7.09

Thanks for the clarification, the admin account is no longer the admin.  wink.gif

I found that in operator account, TR-069 is enabled.
But all remote management is disable, including SSH, Telnet.

So do I need to disable the TR-069?
I just tries with the password posted by forumers , h566UniFi, viola.    notworthy.gif

Dear All

Thank you to rizvanrp, cherroy, Calvin and everyone else..

After wrestling with PFSense VLAN tagging unsuccessfully, I gave up and used rizvanrp's tested and proven http://unifi.athena.my/custom_routers.html instead. It worked flawlessly on a 7.09 firmware! Caveat on the new config.bin and decoding the operator password..

The trouble I encountered was in trying to get IPTV VLAN working.. Tried creating separate OPT1 interface with VLAN600 and bridging it with PPPOEVLAN500 using the same NIC but no go.. mad.gif

PPPOEVLAN500 was working fine but without IPTV is not acceptable, the spouse would not let me get the Plasma TV without it! cry.gif and I want the FashionTV HD! drool.gif

So, I took the easy way out..

I still want to do away with that crappy DIR-615 though. Anyone with a working standalone PFSense w/IPTV working care to share their methodology?

I am curious however about the Mikrotik's RB250GS as mentioned via KLSeet's website. Dropped an inquiry to Soliton Singapore via their web-form but no answer for the past couple of days!! Wonder whether they're interested in doing business..

Fiber optic, cannot connect like copper.
Even they installed time, they need to use alcohol to wash the exposed fiber optic (when doing the plastic joint part for connection with DB).
Heh, I got the spouse to prepare the pipe-trunking through the roof and dropped it down to the server room ;-)

UniFi guys came and simply tie the fibre cable to the string which my spouse laid through the trunking and pulled it through to the other side straight to the server room.

I definitely heard they asked my spouse - "Encik kerja bidang network ya?".. No lar, its simply planning (and someone else who did the hardwork :-P ). At least no holes drilled through the walls or anything icon_rolleyes.gif

Practically everyone's looking for way out of the crappy DIR-615.. The thing's antenna seems not powerful enough.

P/S: Does the IPTV will affect my speed? like i on iptv and internet simultanenously, ty

No it does not.

Your router/VDSL devices are capable of more than 5/10/20mbps speeds of the UniFi.. The IPTV basically works on a different stream level (VLAN tag 600) independent from the data stream of the UniFi (VLAN tag 500). So is the Voice over IP Phone (VLAN tag 400 ?!).

Go ahead knock yourself out rclxub.gif with unlimited downloads and never worry about your IPTV ;-)
