my screen just got scratched. NCC saying it's not covered under warranty. any ideas?

I'm planning to go out and buy myself an N8 tomorrow. Any advice from all the sifu here? Should I wait for PR1.1 before putting my money on it? Or are there any N8 with numeric product code that already got PR1.1 that I can look for?
