Hi all, just would like to know if it's good to drink a glass of warm milk before sleep? I don't have sleeping problem but then sometimes I can be too hungry (cause I usually have my dinner quite early). So just want to know if it's good or bad, and will I put weight because of this? Thanks in advance!

PS: Some internet source saying that it's good as protein can be fully absorbed by body during sleep time but not sure about this. I wonder if this will give the body system (esp digestive system) extra work as they're supposed to rest ad. Some even say that milk itself is bad to us. So really need u guys' opinion before making this as my daily habit.

(Perhaps I'm thinking too much? tongue.gif)

Your digestive system never sleeps. Myth.
Milk itself is bad for us. Myth. Or there will be millions of dead babies.

It's perfectly fine.

You've been thinking too much...

Casein absorption: Almost 80% of the protein found in milk is in the phosphorus-containing form known as casein – a complete protein. Casein is hydrophobic (literally “scared of water”) and so it is not soluble in water but instead appears in milk as a suspension – and for this reason it is also called “Micellar Casein” (separated without the use of chemicals). The human body, however, processes casein a little uniquely. Unlike whey (another dairy protein) which the body can absorb very fast, Micellar Casein takes a while to be absorbed into the cells and so its processing is not a high priority task for the body. Milk consumed during the day will still slowly get you the protein, but when consumed at night it gives the body the best chance of maximum absorption.

The info posted by Joey is casein is a slow absorbing protein which is suitable for pre-bedtime to fuel your growth. Whey is more suitable when you require an immediate source of protein, like when you wkae up or post workout. There is no faster/slower absorbtion correlation with the time of day.

Sounds good, maybe I can consider taking whey in future.. smile.gif

kiki , sounds good . But dun take whey at night when u sleep , just take the normal milk . Whey is only needed when u need immediate protein such as working out time . At night when u sleep , just make a good normal warm milk and go have ur sweet dreams biggrin.gif !

yes it's good if you want to slim down, better take protein only before sleep. Like casein or chicken breast biggrin.gif

If you want to increase mass, no problem drinking milk before sleep
