or jump to fruitphone?huhu

Now it's up to u GrandMaster to completing the Meego project on N900..huhu
Man..i want meego really badly..

Never was I proud to have left Nokia for the Fruit Company. Never, that is, until now. Elop just sold Nokia's soul to the devil.

Oh well, as long as they give WP7 proper multitasking and not let it turn into a pretty but generally useless OS, it's not THAT bad.

Primary OS will be WP7.MeeGo will be treated like Maemo.
I don't want that.Better be killed rather then treated like stepchild.
*
Again.

Nokia is either spiralling down to it's death, or they might just make it because of this. Though they're just another equipment manufacturer now. Which leaves Apple as the only software + hardware mobile maker now.

Which is really, really sad.

Ah..Come on...Don't rub salt on my wound by making me say that Apple is g**d. laugh.gif

Already my mood is ruined by this news.Downloaded gb's worth of series but yet to watch anything.
*
I didn't say Apple was good. I say they're the only ones left manufacturing their own hardware AND software. I discounted HP because they frigging bought and deleted Palm from the world. Google? The Nexuses were made by OTHER PEOPLE.

Oh, and I forgot about Blackberries - on purpose lol. They are popular because it's trendy and had BBM lol. Software and hardware is bloody archaic though, at least until the first QNX based phones come. But right now I can ONLY consider getting one because most of my BB toting friends gave up SMSing already (snobs).

I mean, push email? My old N-gage could do that. BBM? My N-gage had IM+ lol. And all this YEARS before the Blackberry was even commonplace over here.

So, no. Apple is NOT good. But THEY ARE the ONLY decent mass market, Complete Suite (software + hardware) mobile manufacturer left.

Which marks today as a sad sad day indeed.

Two turkeys do no not make an eagle.

@mashimarow: yeps, you can use easydebian and CUPS. But must print with OpenOffice under easydebian lar. Last time it was lidat anyway.

Anyhow, last call for these people in BULK 2. Haiyoo, next time I ask for payment straight when ordering lar, sigh. Very difficult to collect payment sometimes.

1) radz0 x 2 units
2) XiuKeong
3) deanja92

And with multitasking coming to WP7 soon, it's not as bad as before really. The only problem now is making sure the ecosystem thrives.

Shame the multitasking view is gonna be WebOS style. Cards are fine for the average multitasker, but expose panes (like the N900 and iPhone multifl0w) is the only real way to go for hard core multi-runners. Even simple icon switchers like the one on S60 + JBakTaskman is better then cards for hard use really.

But if Nokia gives up the full source code for the N900, I WILL BUY ANOTHER ONE. Only God knows what them hackers can do with it then.

well.... it may be sickening.. but now its either the $ickening or the Sickeningly free stuff... and more open...
*
After spending about 50% the cost of my telefonsaya on paid apps from the official kedai and kedai kupu2, I'd say I really don't mind unfree stuff as long as it's quality stuff.

I mean I love open and free (as in speech) as much as the next person. But as long as it comes with a viably healthy software ecosystem. I mean, yeah apps are quickly becoming a joke - as band aids to cover an OSes shortcomings (which admittedly, iOS has a helluva lot of), but people don't buy smartphones just to do stuff on the stock programs. I at least buy smartphones looking to enhance it's capabilities with interchangeable modular blocks to suit my needs at any given time.

And while hardware blocks are hard to accomplish (see Modu and it's consequent death) software modules are easier to implement. Thus this is the single greatest strength of the "an app for everything" mentality. Only problem is, at least for iOS, Encik Kerja locked down the frigging core software and disallowed other apps to fill their place.

The other problem with an overly healthy software ecosystem is the percentage of quality stuff goes down a bit as everybody rushes to make a quick buck over a new trend every time - creating a sea of shitty apps you have to swim through to get to that one single good one.

But a lot of choice is always better then less choice (when it comes to apps anyway). Which is ironic coming from a person using the platform that allows for the least freedom of choice here lol (the locked garden of Steve and his merry band of thieves).

And unless Google/Microsoft is planning to bring their "Official" paid stores over here, there's really not much choice coming from the other camps either, eh? Yeah, anybody can root for the paid market but that just makes the whole discussion invalid (pecahpenjara solves a helluva lot of issues really).

So to the Googster and Michealsoft -> more frigging good paid apps for the love of God. Make offers to devs. Bend your arses. Anything to ensure you get more premium apps that PEOPLE WOULD FEEL IT'S WORTH MONEY TO SPEND ON.

And no, this isn't a "telefonsaya lebih best dari telefonanda" post. It's just a long rant from someone who really wants to go to other platforms but have yet to see a good reason to. And really, I can write a whole long rant about the shortcomings of telefonsaya but let's keep that for another day, shall we?

The best platform for me would be Maemo/Meego with better power management and a healthier software ecosystem, but Nokia (may God's wrath be upon them) just peed and shat on and buried that dream deep in the ground.

Ship? I think the ship left me far away edi lol.

Might try to catch it back if Nokia doesn't make a mess out of things and actually come up with WOW devices lol.

Either that or the coup succeeds and we see Meego on the forefront again lol.

But you guys have multiple integrated IM services yo.

And about the MP3 cutter, last I checked they were trying to port Audacity for Maemo. Not sure if it's actually ported yet by now.

Anyways, I'm missing a HW keyboard right about now, the best haptics tweaking is nowhere near real keys to press lol.

Just to inform to those involved in my community service thing:

Yeap as long as its taken by Nokia phone and unedited is entitled to join. It will be based on the theme of the day. Prizes yet to be confirm.

The event is confirmed but just the date need some info to confirm so standby. Interested party can start giving me names.
*
Dang. Wonder if my E71 can join lol, now that it's FINALLY out of the hospital (took it TWO MONTHS!).

On a totally untwisted note, currently theming an modding every nook and cranny of my TelefonSaya. It needs a dual pane version of iFile stat to aid my modding - terminal'ing with no hardware keys is excruciating.

And it's reminding me of my N900 days somehow *cry*

I miss my N900.

try ssh-ing using linux terminal and you will have a full physical keyboard to terminal ur phone
*
Sure, if I had a constant WIFI connection over here, which I don't lol. Only alternative is to MyWi/Joiku and SSH over the ad-hoc connection, which is a bit messy so I malas most of the time.

Ugh, wait a minute, I have putty on the E71. Oh yes.

And why wouldn't I want a new N900? Easy, financial restrictions. After the app store met my credit card, I'm so heavily in debt it's not funny any more. Gotta clear that one first.

Is Eiraku still in this thread?

Urgently need your help to explain about emacs cause I saw you in the TM thread successfully installed it  laugh.gif ( I believe that's before you brick your phone)

I only want the CJK input for chinese, don't want to mess up the original N900 system tongue.gif  especially the keymapping part
*
Yeah I'm still here from time to time. What do you wanna know about emacs? General steps to install are here: http://is.gd/AgTcni

Follow the basic method, contact me if you get stuck in the "remapping keyboard" or the "fix N900 maximization" stages.

And remap here means remapping the HW keyboard, which I do anyway to make terminal navigation quicker.

Is this Emacs a sort of external program which not altering any original N900 system?

currently there is another hot topic on virtual chinese input eyboard, but it will alter some setting in N900 original virtual keyboard(mean you lost it and change it for chinese input), which I don't like
*
Yes, it's external enough to require you to have to cut and paste output from the application to SMS, emails etc. Simply put, you have to start emacs up, switch to Chinese mode, type, cut and paste into whatever program you need.

It's not really easy to use this way but it completely leaves the virtual keyboard alone (auto correct and capitalisation still work fine). Even the hardware keyboard mods do not effect the system stability in any way.

But really, having to start another program, write, cut paste is really mafan, especially if you write a lot in another language. Even I used it to write small snippets of text in Japanese only, daily, heavy use might have killed me lol.

But to Emacs' credit, it's not meant to be an interpreter app. Supposedly, you can call people, SMS and even surf the web with it, so you can't blame it for being slightly un-user friendly.

I was hoping that MSCIM would be stable already by now (allowing quick switching of input without disabling auto-correct and capitalisation), but it seems this isn't the case.

4. LG Optimus 2X

Specs wise, the SGS2 fo' sho'. I still have issues with the green robot (and I'm too far into the Fruitland ecosystem) so I'm prolly gonna continue living the iFag life for now.

Until something better comes along lol.

last 2 days i bought a new battery... coz i tot my original battery is spoilt.

but, even with this new battery, i fully charged before i go to sleep, at about 1am. I woke up at 730am, the battery totally drain out.

something wrong with my fon or the new battery?

PS: I have deactivate wifi too!
*
Well, battery life is a touchy subject with the N900. Under heavy use, my old N900 lasted like 3-4 hours while underclocked with the 2nd lowest brightness settings. And by heavy here I mean 10 MicroB windows open constantly.

That was on PR1.2 BTW, things SHOULD be slightly better with the latest CSU. Although not by much I think.

Anyhow, thanks to that history of mine with the N900, I found a new way to keep myself entertained with the TelefonSaya 4. LaunchDeamon editing. It's comparable to editing Init.D on the N900. Bless our common *nix lineage.

It's fun, and might potentially brick your device. Sounds like just the thing for an extras-devel junkie like me. A shame though it's far harder to restore a TelefonSaya compared to the effortless restore of the N900.

Next up, editing the shared.artwork file manually, so I can theme the whole UI without WinterBoard. Yes, this can brick the phone too lol. Oh what fun.

Hardcore modification of Telefon Saya is real b*tch. To much restriction.People prefer winterboard because it's GUI based modification tool. But you won't be able to change too much things in OSsaya.

OSsaya is really boooring in term of functionality & eye candy.I think even MeeGo(tablet version) demoed few days ago is way better looking.
*
Well, I do agree that to much restriction is in place with OSsaya, but for now, I can still cope with it.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

To sum up, no I'm not promoting the TelefonSaya. It just happened to fill nearly all my needs for now. Who knows, maybe next year a Nokia WP7 phone would be the next device that would fill my needs of that particular point in time pulak (God forbid).

And why am I posting my TelefonSaya hacking exploits here? Because the iPhone user community at large is filled with a large number of idiots who think that Jailbraking = free Jack Sparrow stuff (or newbs with ZERO tech skills who DEMAND to be spoon fed without even attempting to READ UP BY THEMSELVES), and the only people I know of who can truly understand the joys of tweaking and hacking your mobile devices are N900 users and ex-users.

Or the Android guys. Problem is, I don't really like Android much, and I can't really explain why.

OC'ed my phone to 250/805 with ULV. Seem pretty stable for now.. gonna monitor to see if battery life improves cuz i'm running on voltages lower than the default Nokia voltage. wink.gif

btw, anyone here has the NeoPwn image file? sad.gif can't find it anywhere.
*
Be careful of voltages that are too low tho. The guys can tell you how I 'starved' my N900 to death (or something, nobody really knows why it died).

Ah the good 'ol days.
