I am hungry.

Only those who live near the checkpoint border can make border pass. Those would be from Kedah, Perlis, Perak & Kelantan. The reason was because they live near the border and it make sense for them to go to the border for a meal etc. Its for the convenience purpose too as 1 border pass cost RM 10 and last for 6 mths.

You can take boat from Rantau Panjang to Sg Golok at RM 1 if you want to cross the border from Kelantan. If you want to cross from Bukit Kayu Hitam, Penang, Perlis or Kedah then it would be more difficult cause the immigration is more strict there.

So, where do you plan to go in Thailand?

nope. if u got the guts enough. u can just walk into the thai border (applicable to few borders only) or just ask the people around that area (motorist), they will know how to get u in "without" passport.

going to sg golok town illegally using boat etc. is sort of common practice in kelantan. anyhow, don't get yourself into trouble with anyone or don't get yourself caught by the police because you go into their country illegally. they can even jail you for that especially you are not from border state.

if you get caught for trespassing illegally, it all depends on your explanation skill or perhaps some agong paper would help. it all depends on how you handle the case. it would be much easier if you are from border town tho.

and if you got into any accident, robbed etc. in thailand (with illegal trespassing, without chop etc.), the legal side (insurance etc.) won't take any responsibility.

Also, if you cross over to sg golok town using boat you need to surrender your IC over to Thailand Army near the illegal boat jetties.
They will issue you a receipt for your IC and you can collect it on your way back to Malaysia.
Try not to cross illegally if you don't speak Kelantanese Malay la, more difficult for you.

kelantan malay dialect is totally diff from local malay + ur ic will state where are you from. since u r from penang, u need to travel to kelantan first and that would take you approx. 5 hrs drive.
