luiz post match interview: thank you chelsea, thank you. i don't think he even knows why he got the champagne either 

amazing game, i thought our approach play was a bit slow but it was patient and the emphasis was on retaining possession. at the end we had like 64 percent to their 36, and their gameplan was obviously to get at least a point. 1st goal came from a setpiece, scored by the brilliant luiz who won the foul and proceeded to head the ball in from didier's cross! he handled dzeko and the others with relative ease, and continues his mean streak against anyone who tries to dribble or hold the ball near him. this dude is even more aggressive than riccy, and possibly more of a 'psycho' so to speak. and i mean that in a good way 

i'm very disappointed in malouda though. i felt he intentionally ignored torres on a few occasions, trying his utmost best to find kalou instead, went for a shot/dribble from difficult positions and lost the ball in the process. don't know about u guys, but i wanted him subbed right about the 55th minute. notice how our play vastly improved when he went off? oh yes that's a direct consequence of him leaving the field imho. torres did okay, with the little amount of service that was provided to him and like i said before, we still lack that player who can consistently find his darting runs through the middle. lamps is not cutting it.

speaking of which our no.8 had a really really quiet game, but at least he upped his defensive ante in the second half. somewhere down the line i think he realised if he can't help in attack, he may as well put in a shift battling for possession in the middle.

there are two men of the match for me today, in the form of ramires and luiz. the man city players were too shocked to do anything after they realised ramires can actually dribble, and what a wonderful goal it was at the end of it! waltzed through the middle of their pen box like nobody was even there. roman would have particularly enjoyed that one, and its exactly what he wants our players to do more of. know what our owner's thinking after this match? "Hmmmmmm.....we need more brazilians!" 

credit as well to didier who put in a strong, physical display when he came on. that peach of a freekick which luiz headed in was pivotal in breaking down city's wall. i felt torres could've stayed on though.

i'd like to point out the importance of our setpieces when it comes to breaking down defensive teams..city are not the first to do this, and certainly won't be the last. we have towering defenders in the form of terry, alex, iva and luiz who can score goals with their head. i think carlo has been working on this aspect a little more, and we're seeing the results in the past two games, vs blackpool and now city. our gaffer also made the right subs today, and my minor gripe is only about malouda staying on the field for too long. so its third place, and slowly making our champs league spot even more secure. KTBFFH!!
