QUOTE(THE ZUL @ Feb 2 2011, 06:37 PM) i bet some of you don't watch newcastle games Nobody is saying Carroll isn't good. Just that, if transfer prices is a measure of someone's ability, or achievement, then there are many other players more suitable at no7. Even in this season's transfer window...David Villa? Young players...ozil? Older transfers...Ribery? Robben? Of coz can't judge directly la, different era and all. That's they say just "doesn't looks right". Not to say "doesn't deserve". Comparisons like that, unless adjusted for inflation (especially for the English league), is an inaccurate basis for comparison. It's like comparing today's RM4 bihun sup with our parent's RM0.50 back in the 60s.

Yeah you have to consider the inflated English prices. Arsenal paid $12 over a few years for Theo Walcott when he was an unproven teenager. We've just paid 3 times more but $15 million less for a striker who has more goals this season than Fernando Torres. I'm surprised by the amount as you are but it looks a worthwhile gamble. Time will tell. I'm optimistic.

well...another factor is.. you've to force the other club to sell their valuable asset midway through the season...liverpool n newcastle would be a good example.... torres n carrol were the main source of goals... if liverpool and newcastle decides sell them...the gamble must be worth it

Getting Started

|
I think the english players are getting scarce. and saudi has made the inflation worse.
imagine milner who don't even get few chances as first team?
darren bent for 25 million which the price can get a suarez? lolx?
i think there must be hidden agenda behind...seriously, regarding the urgency to have more english players in the team.
i predict next or next 2 seasons, FA will made compulsory for england players needed to be at least half of the team.
now arsenal gotta seek for english players, jack wilshere.
Added on February 3, 2011, 7:26 pmcos world cup is more important for them..they wanna brought up english player at bpl.

Let's not forget Carrol cost that much not only because he is English but also affected by reasons like January Transfer Window and us, bidding on transfer deadline last few hours.

Truly said. Their 'values' are really inflated. WYSWYG Apparently if they foul a player its because they can't 'tackle'. If they try to steer a ball for goal with their hand its because they can't 'head'. Its not cheating! Its called 'CHEEKY'. No? Review today's matches! So Russian Oil Tycoons & Oil Rich Sheikhs are to be blamed? QUOTE So the Sheik's oil revenue was redistributed across three continents, seven clubs and six leagues, to places like Stoke that will never see a penny of UEFA's precious Champions League money without first completing mission impossible. That is genuine financial fair play. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/...ches-needy.html
